If SM wants a 600, then why doesn't he just go out and get one?

Well my only interaction with SM on here was regarding my bike and how the aluminium was corroding. He offered to come down and help me remove the engine I paid for his travel costs so that I could clean it all up, but I havent heard a dickybird since...........

i have ridden your old GPX, and a 06 one..
i owned the GT hyo and i have ridden the GTR

in my opinion the GPX is better, because quality is more guaranteed.
its like buying McD's as opposed to buying chinese
McD's is kinda the same the world over, but chinese is always a bit dodgy.
i didn't think the GPX was a bad bike

    HI,

It does seem that most of these new 250's are old technology and parts "recycled" - even though there are changes from the original models they are closely based on (and so there should be)
I have heard it said the chinese GSX250's are "parts bin specials" for example

The ZZR250 didn't sell in numbers here for some reason - maybe that was because people were snapping up the more high tech newly imported CBR/FZR/ZXR's etc?
I was told to avoid these by a local mechanic who said
something about the valve train was a issue if my memory seves me correct.

The CBR250R's and the ZXR250's were flash advanced machines nearly two decades ago -
we still can't compare them to any new 250's although the larger bikes have moved on in strides!
That's a hole in the performance market a town could sit in!
No wonder they hold their resale!
The 250 dirt bikes seem to have had more development.

Maybe it's now time to change our licencing laws to address the fact we can't even get a 250 with designs/technology newer than the ninties an widen up the allowed choice?
Motorcyclists have it tough until then.
Car hoons can go out and get a powerful V8 or Turboed car.
I reckon learners should have more choice to ride 400 0r 600 singles -twins even which are available for good prices and
won't even elipse the performance of the ancient 4 cylinder 250's anyway.
Lets be honest here - the learners can crash or die on a 50cc if they arent careful.

Having a learners never bothered me riding a larger bike.
The prices many of the 250's go for I suppose many people are choosing to doing this.

    Cheers

Guess there will be a time when the 4cyl 250s will not really exist in great numbers, even the 400 twins are getting old now.

Under the currrent 250 law the likes of the new ninja will satisfy most learners needs for a motorbike, that is, those that are just starting out. As for the wannabe racers, not a bad thing they can't get their hands on high powered road rockets. If 250 twins were all there were here then there wouldn't be such a desire for a performance learners bike. People would just accept that is what you ride on a learners and move on if they wish. The fact these young guys know there is a fast learners bike makes it on the learners wish list. IMHO

I am with you on that one fella !

Puke I am sure it around 1.17 (CBR250RR) and Taupo full track I think it's 2.01 (ZXR250), not sure about the Taupo one though. Could be less.

Correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Yeah would be good to know your times.
