    Yamaha DX7

This is a really big ask, but i was wondering if anyone out there (preferably Auckland/Hamilton region) has a DX7 synth that they would be prepared to lend me for a couple of months. I am currently rehearsing with Papakura Theatre Company "Les Mis" and the orchestra uses 4 DX7's (original sound). We have one, which me as the Keyboard 1 player has been allocated, but the 2 keyboardists actually are supposed to play 2 each. I wondered if anyone has one (they're as scare as hens teeth to find) that they would trust to me??
I would look after it with my life and would be sooooo grateful if anyone could help me out. Pm me if you can offer any help or suggestions.
    Thanks!

90% of the people on this site are probably still trying to figure out how many cc's a DX7 is.

    700, Obviously. It's like a ZX7. But earlier.

Why not a midi keyboard with velocity sensitivity and a sampler running either DX7 samples or DX7 vsti ?

I think Nord makes a clone also.

Considering the DX7 is nearly 25 years old - I'm going to think that MIDI and samples are going to be your good friend in this situation..

    Good luck.

mmmm. Thanks for that. Yeah, I look at the DX and think "crikey what an outdated piece of ......." but it was the beezkneez when Les Mis debuted and the MD is after as close to the 'original' show sound as possible. I think you guys are going to be right with sampling but having (working, lol) DX7's might have made the going a little easier time wise etc.
Thanks for the comments, really appreciate it. Still, if there is anyone with one they could lend me I'd still love to hear from you! Cheers, Dawn

    Don't ever say its outdated!

The thing about synths are that they are timeless!

There are communities bigger than KB filled with people who rave about them, collect them, and fix them

I know of a DX7 in a studio ive worked in down here in CHCH but unfortunately it's used quite a lot and I dont think and strings I could pull would get it in your hands

Have you not looked into the DX7 vsti? Musicians Friend gave it a great review and from my brief play with it, it is really good!

    Yamaha DX7 II FD

I'm currently looking for a Yamaha DX7 II FD,if anyone has one in good condition, send me a PM.

Been after one of these for a while,to add to my studio. I've had offers from overseas, but it's a bit of a risk.
