well I finally got around to uploading my pictures from my camera, so thought I'd post them up.

and here's a few more from the middle of the track.
Thanks for the pics Howie![]()
is the track fairly obvious?
I'm thinking of heading up for a look at the end of the month for a look-see
cheers

I've just "stolen" Jims KMZ file of the route. I'll have ago at putting it up on my new web site advroutes.org.nz as my first North Island track
I'm guessing that a basic description of the route would be "muddy rutted dirt surfaced track. Knobbly tyres recommended". Also guessing it fits in the Difficult group?
Time for me to start trolling KB for old KMZ/KML files

Just put the Makiro track on the advroutes site. Have I got the description about right? Is there any access issues i.e. do you need permission etc?
Cheers R

Hey Ryan
If you're interested I have the kmz ( or gpx if you prefer ) file that covers the whole trip we did.
I just put in the Makiro track as the server only allows very tiny
kmz files to be uploaded ( for some reason it only allows a 4k kmz file )
You're probably not interested in the whole trip up from Welly but maybe the
extra bits from the Tui brewery to the start of the track might be useful.
Let me know, if you're keen and I'll email you the extra bits
Jim
See this thread .I need to make it clear on the advroutes site that I dont really want the whole track for a ride. This means I have to dissect the files for the bits of relevance. This is probably the most time consuming part of adding a new route. Also because I know very little about the north island tracks I'm not sure that I can will even be able to do it.
What I really want is just the route itself i.e. basically where you turn into the route to where you turn off it. I know this description is a little vague but if people can navigate to the "start" of the track (which ever end they are starting at) using the roads shown by Google Maps then I dont want those roads. I need to keep file sizes minimal so that the page loads reasonably quickly. At the moment the plan is to have all routes showing when the page is loaded but I may have to work around this later on some how.
Cheers R
