My brothers mate rode his yellow 2006 hyosung gtr250 down from auckland to chch ths weekend for a holiday so i gt to hav a squiz at it. They are quite big for a 250, especially beside the wee ciblet, even bigger than the vfr400 we had there too, so they would suit bigger learners, but he did say theyre quite heavy and make only around 30hp (sounds like my grandma farting while doing it). So they are not in the same league as the cbr/zxr/fzr etc performance wise but look the part. Great value learner bike except on close inspection u can c where they do things on the cheap and the quality of fit/finish isnt great. U get wot u pay for i guess. Saw a black 1 at sumner yesterday too tho and it looked really nice... from a distance.

Monty69, I got one and I wouldn't say I'm in the 'bigger learners' category. I am only 5'4 and weigh in at under 60kg! I still manage it!!

I'd probably roll with the zxr for an all rounder but I wouldnt spend any money on it .
the hyosung would get smoked by a scooter but its good for a learner I guess particulary if you want a new bike ...upside down forks digital dash etc.. they really have fuckall go though
my rs... its my only form of transport for a year and a half now, I have weight on my wrists the whole time ..but twist the throttle and the pressure eases..
As for reliability... 20,000 km's now and hasnt skipped a beat once...
    Ill never sell it, ever
Confident the aprilia rsv4, IS the one

I didnt mean theyre only suitable 4 bigger learners, im short myself and its fine to ride, its just that sum of the smaller 250s are a bit cramped for big guys... My brothers mate is 6'5 and had to buy the hyosung coz he simply culdnt fit a cbr comfortably. Great to c girls on sportsbikes!
