    I love Noddy!

I've been having a clear out at home and getting rid of a pile of crap, whoops, unwanted treasures, in an effort to declutter and make some money. I remembered buying a set of Noddy books years ago but hadn't come across them until a week ago. They were still in their original box so I decided to sell them on Trade Me. There were 24 books and they had never been taken out of the box, so I put a start price of $20 and a reserve of $50 on them. A woman bid $50 immediately so I was rapt, but even more happy the following day when bidding had reached $84. The auction closed last Thursday and the night before, bidding jumped to $225! I was a bit surprised as they are reproductions and not the original 1950-1960 editions - but I had mentioned all this in the auction comments so they all knew what they were bidding on.

The auction closed mid-afternoon but I couldn't log onto Trade Me for some reason, so the closing time passed before I could view the auction. It was still going and the bidding was up to $1160! I was feeling quite sick by now as I was sure the bids were bogus, but the auction closed about 10 minutes later and they sold for $1710! And the woman paid cash into my account a short time later so it was all genuine!

I just wish to hell I'd bought two sets!

My mate asked if I'd said "cheers, Big Ears" when she paid! I said no, and she replied "Gollie!"

I still can't believe it, but I just wish the money had come at a time when we DIDN'T need it - about $1000 went instantly on rates and some insurances, but I did shout my husband lunch at Mitre 10's Megastore in Palmerston North yesterday! And we bought some much-needed storage units for the garage.

And as we have our engagement anniversary (29 February), my birthday (3 March) and our wedding anniversary (5 March) coming up, I'm off to buy a bottle of bubbly (or maybe even two...) to put away for celebrating!

I've also sold heaps of those little 4ml bottles of perfume you get as a gift with purchase on occasion. People have paid anywhere between $5 and $17 for them! I just love getting rid of junk!

    Wow! An excellent sale.

I guess these things are now black-market stuff. In our overly-PC lunatic age, that sort of thing is now crushed.

    Golliwog doll, anyone?

He's definitely NOT for sale, John! Hell, it took me long enough to find a guy who cooks, doesn't whinge for months if you ask him to vacuum, cleans my bike and our cars, and most importantly of all, puts up with ME!!!

Yes, Swoop, these are the REAL Noddy books, complete with Big Ears, Golliwogs, nasty policemen and angry cats - wow, just like real life!
