    Race to Dakar

Hey guys & gals does anyone have a copy of Race to Dakar by charlie boorman they would lend/ hire to me. Watched both long ways & interested to see how he prepared for the dakar. I know he didn't finish but hey a dvd with bikes & scenery...

btw just found out he was the skinny blond kid in Emerald forest & he was in deliverance too!!!

I can return the favour with a copy of Faster. Sure its about GP racing but hey a dvd with bikes & pit girls...

It's 7 files and 2.4Gb. I could bung it on a DVD and drop it off sometime.

    Sparkly? That would imply cleaning.

Thats a bit of an understatement! The major thing I don't like about all of Ewan's and Charlie's DVD's the the whining. Then again I hate reality TV cause they are all such whiners as well - just get on a deal with the situation. I'd be a very boring reality TV show contestant

yeah - what I never unerstood with charlie is the way he seemed to be starting from scratch -like if you took half those cats that cain woodhill every weekend they'd be better in sand than he was... kind of wierd to expect to be able to complete the dakar without more of an ongoing life history in the dunes baby! ...

so he broke everything, hurt everything... but... still I got so addicted to watching it to see if he'd make it...

And as Chris says at one point. Charlie was one of the fastest British riders for a leg.

yeah good one guys just give me a taste & leave me wanting more.

Nordyboy can I pick it up off you if you put it on Dvd. Would it work on TV? Otherwise surfchick if I send you a courier bag could I borrow/hire it? Let me know guys thanks.

After reading their last book & watching their dvds I too got sick of their whinging (& why did they always moan about the condition of the roads before it even got rough?) however & I think this is the main point, it really opened my eyes to what we take for granted here in NZ.

Whether it was the simplicity of life in Mongolia or the atrocities in Central Africa, it quietly educated viewers about different country's histories & ambitions while still retaining the interest of petrolheads with the inevitable bike breakdowns.

You would have to hard hearted not to be moved by the slaughter of innocent children for political reasons or impressed by the generosities of peoples giving when they have very little to give.

Despite the huge crew they had, all the fixers, free gear etc they still travelled amazing journeys & had a lot of fun. That to me is what adventure biking is about.

    Anyway enough sermon for tonight.
