What would you do?

OK, so yesturday afternoon, I was sitting in my study, which faces the road. I hear a vehicle go past, followed by the noise of something hitting the road. Looked out, and this WANKER had thrown a bag of rubbish onto the road, right outside my house, spilling its contents everywhere. I saw the vehicle, and it was towing a distinctive kayak trailer, which is usually parked at a house around the corner from me.

This sort of thing really pisses me off, and it's been festering away since yesturday. How should I exact my revenge? I could go over, knock on his door, and give him a piece of my mind - but I'm thinking this kind of tool wouldn't be affect by it. So plan B at the moment is to get my biggest, stinkiest bag of rubbish, and dump it on his driveway/doorstep. Anyone got a better idea?

At least gather all that he dropped and place it at his front door step...maybe accidentally spreading it

I've already cleaned up (most of) his mess, the seagulls are taking care of the bits I refused to pick up. Which is weird, because I've never seen seagulls on this side of town. It sounds like a rubbish tip with them squaking out there.

If you happen to live near a building site that has any excavation work been carried out, where they are taking the excavated material off site, you could call in and ask if they would mind tipping a load in your driveway for a little project you are undertaking in your back yard.


BTW.. did you consider that the rubbish bag may have fallen off his trailer and that he was unaware of it?

I'd probably go around and tell the guy what's happened. As suggested by flyingcrocodile46, he might have no idea it's fallen off.

If he responds with aggression or indifference, then repay the compliment!

Depends whether you're keen on personal contact/confrontation or just want him to get a message that it's not cool to dump/accidentally drop rubbish.

If the latter, keep the rubbish (over the weekend .... hmmmm ....yuck! .....) - ring your district council, make a formal complaint about the dumping. They will come out and pick up the rubbish and probably issue him with an infringement notice, after having considered the possibility of an accidental drop.

Might be easier to get a big strong friend go pay him a visit and re-dump the stuff on HIS lawn.

Had a similar problem with a problematic house over my way. The people living there are just general assholes and are more than likely the ones that have been breaking into houses here lately and I know they are the ones that broke into my car.

They love leaving broken bottles in the street every so often, then the next morning I hear them shouting when they get a flat tyre discovering that the glass they left in the street is now all over their driveway. Hits them in their wallet which it seems is the only thing they care about but they haven't stopped. Oh well.

+1 on Planna's advice. Ring the council and get them to talk to the litterer... Personal confrontation is generally not a good thing. If it's a genuine accident, then whoever it is probably will go to lengths to not let it happen again. If it was deliberate, it'll happen again, and then revenge could be fun.

Check to see if there is paperwork (letter etc) with the rubbish 'owners' address on it. Then call the council.

Or to be honest, I'd more likely throw it all on his doorstep at 2am in the morning.

And maybe smear a bit of dog crap under this cars door handles - just for good measure (don't use your own crap as the police can get DNA off it).

Have there been any other problems with him? If not, then the already suggested explanation that he dropped it by mistake is probably the closest one.

My suggestion: Gather it up in a bag, when you know he is home take it with you, ring his door bell and say: "Hi, I am from x the road. When you drove off this fell off. You probably did not even realise this happened? Anyhow,as it is rubbish I gathered it up as it was all over the place to save you complaints from the neighbourhood, as there is quite a few busy bodies here."

If he is a decent chap he says: "Cheers dude, last thing I want to do is get the neighbourhood pissed off. You want a beer?"

Might be a starting point of a life long friendship?

Depends on how much you want to piss the guy off - if he turns out to be an arsehole and the contents of said rubbish bag are anything at all pongy, it could be good to serve the dish decidedly warm .....! Thinking meaty bones, rotten milk, slimy potatoes ...... mmmmmmm

A car pulled up outside our place a while ago and the two young guys started cleaning all the rubbish out of it into a plastic bag, then dropped the bag onto the road and got back in the car.

My boyfriend saw them, went out to tell them to pick it up, the guys saw him and started to drive away. He picked up the rubbish bag and threw it at the car - and scored a direct hit in through the passenger's window. Rubbish all over the passenger's lap. Very satisfying.

Right after I moved in we had a problem with someone dumping rubbish in our recycle bin. This wasn't people just walking past and tossing something in, this was someone emptying the entire contents of their rubbish bin at once - rotten food and cigarette butts included. A large sign on the inside of the lid politely telling them to f*ck off didn't do the trick.
After a couple weeks of it, they made the mistake of throwing a bunch of letters with their name and address in with their rubbish. Turns out they only lived a few houses away. My flatmate and I were sick of it, so we left the two bags of rubbish we had collected to fester in the sun for a few days before slicing them both open and dumping it on the doorstep of the person responsible. We stuck one of the letters to his front door with the address highlighted and a large "returned to sender" scribbled on it.
It never happened again.
