Makes ya wonder if the $10k last year with 1500 bikes was bullshit.
Working on the same Avg, last year should hae been around $24K. Something dont add up, anyway, good effort to those who turned out for it.
Some badges and shirts were presold, money even if riders didn't turn out.

And the people who came last year but were put off this year would have been the least committed, and therefore the least likely to donate. The ones who came this year in spite of difficulties would be the hard core, most likely to give. Makes sense.

Jo [cargo] and I left Whangarei in the rain at 6.10 this morning and it rained all the way there and then when we arrived the sun came out!
Was a good day, just got home. Oldguy did you win anything?
The band played a good selection but there was no bar that I saw!

Maha - yes you are right in the fact that some people do just come along for the ride or just give a gold coin donation rather than buy the badge or t-shirt. Others are very generous, as an example they buy a badge, give us $20 and say keep the change as a donation.

Re 2007 - The Ulysses Club actually gave $14,000.00 to the Auckland Rescue Helicopter last year. Because there are still some bills/finance stuff to sort we give an estimated "big cheque" on the day.

P.S. Rhino won one of the major prizes. A $250 voucher from Motomail. He is going to get a new jacket!!! Good on ya Rhino.

Wairua Falls. Looks good in flood doesn't it? Used to swim there a lot until one day I surfaced from a dive beside a sheep carcass

Yeah, popping wheelies and weaving through the entire pack certainly made you look cooler.

    I noticed this too.

Im usually pretty loose and upto no good, But on a ride like this, you behave.

Otherwise wouldve given the learn both doing wheelies and weaving dangerously

    Up at 0600.

    Arrived BP Autobahn 0730.

Joined the throng at bloodstock place 0800.

Bought me shirt and a badge.

Got wet, cold and had a few pucker moments in the slippery bits of Queen St.

And I will sure as hell be back again next year to do it all again, rain or shine.

As someone has pointed out, the chopper doesn't fly based on time of day, and they don't mind a little rain... so HTFU and support this next year people, because the next trip may have you in the boot.

YEP. Although I wouldn't say my arse was hard.... more like toned.

Great event, great cause and sad to see so few make it this year. For those that whimped out, I fart in your general direction!

Now, would someone please clean my bike... it looks like its been offroading. The Mrs won't get into her bikini to wash it for me dammit.
