Auckland to Raglan etc, 1st March

Cancelled.....I have to work saturday so ignore the rest of this thread.

I'm heading to Taupo in the 1st, leaving Auckland @ 8.00am and will travel via Raglan, Kawhia, Te Kuiti to Taupo trying to stay on as much gravel as possible.
This means Port Waikato-ish, coast road south and inland roads from Kawhia.

Sooooooo, if anyone fancies a bit of a ride for any parts of that route let me know.

Will be at the Triumph Rally, otherwise I'd be in.
You might want to try: From Kawhia/Operau service station,
Left onto Harbour Rd, Hauturu Rd, Waipuna Rd, sealed bit through to fuel at PioPio,
Seal through Aria to Kumara Rd, Waithewhena Vally Rd, to Ohura,
Huia/Roto rds, onto a short bit of Forgotten Hwy,
Kurarau Rd through to Tauramanui, then pick your options to Taupo, (link rd etc).
    Enjoy

Thanks Brent, I'll see how time goes and aim for Taumaranui if its going to fit in otherwise it's Te Kuiti & Pureora to Taupo.

Hey Ian, if you are fueling up in Piopio, Tikitiki Rd about 5km east of the town is a neat way to hook up with hwy4, and then Kopaki rd will get you to Bennydale for the Pureora forest section.
Tikitiki is 50/50 gravel/seal if i remember rightly, and a nice change from the "Eight Mile Junction" route.
Also, if you get a chance on a return run, do the Opotiki saddle Rd that starts about 12km nth of Tauramanui.

I'm looking to go for a ride this weekend - we could hook up somewhere....on the Te Akau rd? I could ride with you to Te Anga, maybe Poi Poi if we make good time.

    Bollocks!

I've just found out I have to work saturday morning so can't do this ride, I'll have to take the sealed route to taupo in the evening instead.

Apologies if I have stuffed any of you around, we'll have to do this another time.
