As someone has pointed out, the chopper doesn't fly based on time of day, and they don't mind a little rain... so HTFU and support this next year people, because the next trip may have you in the boot.[/QUOTE]

The fact that it has a full radar setup, possibly helps!

I was a little confused when they announced "$800- has been raised"
Thank goodness that chap came forward and corrected the amount!

The band were bloody good! Well done to the organisers. Looking forward to next year.

Next year in January I'm going to organise a charity run to buy the Volty a radar, night vision goggles and a locator beacon. Then in February I'll be able to go on the Westpac ride, no matter what the weather!

Please tell me you're not implying that the people who don't buy a badge or shirt are miserable buggers?

On the occasions I attend a charity run or protest ride in Auckland it costs a minimum of $50 for the round trip and that's before I contribute anything to the kitty. For us non-locals it can be an expensive day out so any contribution has to be better than nothing.

We try and match the material to the audience - most groups do. I'll talk to Richard about extending the services for next year. Might give the chopper a bit more practice though.

    Kind words - thanks
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

...and that is usually per bike taken. Tally's up very quick especially when you add lunch etc for two

Great event, great cause and sad to see so few make it this year. For those that whimped out, I fart in your general direction!

Now, would someone please clean my bike... it looks like its been offroading. The Mrs won't get into her bikini to wash it for me dammit.
And you sir, smell of elderberries... (hmmmm...toned arse!)

Would have loved to make it like we normally do, but we had the small problem of having to witness my hubby's youngest brother get married...family's got to come first in our book.

If the start time stays the same then i guess last years ride was the last one i attend. Aint nothing going to get me out bed on a sunday at 5.30am. We donate throughout the year and i only used to go for the T- Shirt and badge (donate a little bit more) im a giving kinda guy but unless they bump the start time out a couple of hours then im out. We donate $100 pa to this cause and i dont need to read the 'wimpout' comments by the jerk offs who donate nothing (but by a t shirt) Have a nice ride next year guys.....
Didnt get a T- Shirt last year...colour was puke!

PS...Not having a go at you Chris, just used your post to......'express'?

No worries and no offence taken...bitch
All I was saying is that for us to come up from Tauranga and participate it costs about $100 more than a local(Aucklander) to do so.
Yes the cause is well worth it but at this moment in time there are other things more important to us financially.

I certainly never implied that people were miserable/stingy or anything like that. You obviously don't know me at all!!! If this is what you read into my post, I am sorry. I was merely trying to reply to Maha Man and explain why the monies don't necessarily stack up.

Ulysses Auckland welcome any monies that we can get to donate to the Rescue Helicopter however small or large!!! You can just come and enjoy the ride at least you are there and showing your support.

Rhino and I have also supported other charity rides e.g. Hamilton Toy Run, Tauranga Easter Egg Run and Whangarei Ambulance Run to name a few and are aware of how much it costs to get there.

Sorry again but there was certainly no implication intended.

I was there and enjoyed it quite a lot. Got myself a badge and a t-shirt.
Will be there next year, rain or shine.
