With ya on that Hitcher, I also have given on a couple of occassions, the first post does not clarify what the money will be spent on, nor does it accually ask for money, just 'help'. Im only guessing that means 'money'. Kiwifruit saw through the mist and asked for the bank acc details, so i guess the Chocolate i sent aint quite whats requiered?

See, I read that as 'could people please help us out by thinking of ways that we can help get Sean's bike going and looking nice again'. To me that could mean helping out with sanding, painting etc or maybe even just bringing food to those helping to work on Sean's bike. I did not read that as "give me money so I can fix the bike". Some people may want to help with $$ some people may have tools or experience in rebuilding things etc etc....
When things start getting personal then this is best done by PM.

EDIT: the "Matte Mille" is what Sean calls his bike.

Hun, Hitcher wasn't trying to put a damper on things, just trying to bring up a very important point:

It is unlikely that someone like Skel would not have had insurance on his bike, and as much as I admire Drew and Flame for the initiative (applaud it even) , maybe Lissa for example may be consulted on how best to handle the repairs on Sean's bike. If it is meant as a surprise, I'm sure Lissa can keep a secret for him when he gets much better.

Hell, I don't earn bugger all, but I'll chip in whatever I can for Sean if his bike is not insured. And also, Drew may want to clarify what kind of help he is asking for.

Let's just make sure we have all the details before we act, is all I'm saying.

List the bits you need man.

I have sources out of the US that might be able to help at a good price. Cola used him... he seems pretty good...

Hmm.... I can appreciate what some people are saying... however once again this reminds me on how different people approach things in different ways.

I will contribute to my friend, if the money goes to the bike, his partner, his bills, in fact his bloody beer after he gets out of hospital... I don’t really care, just as long as it helps him out. I will do whatever I can to help. Being in Chch makes it hard to contribute physical help... so count me in Drew, I await your pm with bank details.

Agreed... and to further qualify my reaction.,..

I'm guessing Sean's going to need a bunch of stuff in the next little while anyway, and if ACC stumps up only 80% of his income there's a cash shortfall there etc etc etc.

A BIG lesson learned with a previous fundraiser I was involved with... raise the cash in the name of someone else and hold onto it until all the various departments etc have had a chance to poke and prod and do what they like.... sometimes a source of income (such as a fund raiser) is seen as a good reason for them NOT to pay out... indeed it's in their mandates.

Sooo.... raise the money - and let's say... Lissa manages to get hold of some of it... and she happens to be talking to Sean about some stuff he really wants... and things unfold just nicely.

    ...Attention bling whores...

Skel's a good bastard. Never met him that I know of but... I figure he should benefit from somethign he's given me a lot of...

    .... bling....

I want to auction it off... the lot of it Mods - can I do that? Can I sell 1000 points at a time, or the whole lot in one go?

If it's a no (Mods would be the poor pricks with the headache of transferring it) I'll delete this post.

For those enquiring, any contributions of parts/labour/or $ will be going towards bike repairs/parts etc, NOT to the people doing the labour. Drew (and others including myself, though Im useless mechanically) will spend as many hours as neccessary to get Mille right, and we will honour every minute of it as a chance to thank Sean for just being the great guy that he is.

Like Drew said, once we have time next week to have a closer look at the bike, we will be able to put up a list of parts we need to get Sean's bike looking primo again, as Sean put hours of work into making Matte Mille look like a dam sexy beast! we just want to do our best to get it ridable and looking sharp again for him.

Lissa is fully aware that we have the bike, and that we are going to do our damdest to make it 'mint'.

Im sorry that people always have bring the word 'dishonesty' into such threads as this!!!

Some of you know Sean and I to be very close, those that dont, I love the guy like a brother, as does Flame.

We are trying to get his bike fixed for him, that's it, if somebody else wants to raise money to pay his bills, I'll chip in to that too.

This is what we would like to do for Sean as a gift, to do with as he chooses once he's all fixed up.

I WILL NOT proffit from this, or think I am entitled to any money for my services.

If so isn't it better to have the insurance guys fix the bike and maybee money raised go towards the insurance exess.
MAN Im sittting her aplauding ---your heart is TOTALLY in the right place. But ya might not be helping by um helping.
Horrible thought through my mind--You in good faith to help a mate out sand and weld n paint and replace what you can.
Skel then decides to make an insurance claim--
Insurance company go --Hang on WTF is going on--its like half ok and doesnt line up with the accicdent you say you had --- this stinks of fraud etc.
Best intentions I have NO doubt but maybee check first
Bingo. Frosty has it in one.

Please please please, check out the insurance issue before touching anything on the bike.

No-one is suggesting there's any dishonest motives here. What you guys want to do is wonderful. But make sure you're doing the right thing, eh?
