they would be pretty good in streetstock too i'd imagine, plus plenty of power and lightness for the learners.

whats it with nz not bringing in bikes like this? hyosungs are getting imported so surely these kr's could.

There a really nice little bike those! I used to have a 2001 KR 150, it was slightly different to the earlier KR's and different again from the newer ones. Problem with my one was that it was sooo light and with the fairing being so low I was constantly being blown off the road. They crash real well though!!

I used to have that exact model. Great bike.

I learned on mine, then thrashed it on the road, then raced it for a year. Had my first road crash on it, then sold it a year and a bit later after clocking up near on 60,000kms on it. Miss it every day!

are they still making them over seas? because i reckon they'd be pretty good for the learner market. well if i had 3k right now i'd buy it, sadly i don't and i suspect i'll never find another one .

The KRR is a cool little bike. I'm not sure if they are still making them. Most of the information on the internet is in Thai, so it's hard to find anything out.

My understanding is that they used to bring heaps of them into the country, and they were about 3k new, so they were a really good deal for learning, and for a cheap race bike.

When they brought out the new body style (like the one shown in the TM link) kawasaki upped the price to 5-6k (ish), and priced themselves out of the market.
Mine was an 03 model that wasn't registered until 2005 (trademe one appears to be the same), and with that kind of demand, I'm not surprised that you don't see more of them.

And, an important thing to remember is that <250cc bikes generally get sold to people who don't know anything about motorbikes. So, even though 150cc 2-strokes are excellent little bikes, and have plenty of get up and go, there can be a perception that the bike will be gutless and high maintenance.

I here theres some new technology going into twostrokes, i think its something to do with an injection system and these are supposed to be more fuel efficient (better for the environment?) than the four strokes. I hope this is true because it'll bring things like these back into fasion and we'll have some nifty little bikes to play on.

I actually gave Kawasaki NZ a call before I brought mine to see if they were getting any new ones in. They didn't have any idea then and I doubt they do now. They were last retailing at around 6-7K new.

Yes, made in Thailand, but I didn't see a single one when I was there recently, most of the talk online is actually coming from Malaysia, where they seem to be reasonibly popular.

I love mine. Similar overall speed to my ZXR250 (a little slower), with the (IMO) huge advantage of being 40+kg lighter, which for me made it a hell of a lot easier to throw around.

Would be better than the CBR125 I saw in Auckland the other day. In pics it looks OK, but next to the Kawa or even the far-more-muscley RGs it looked like the weediest thing on the roads. Even scooters look more agressive and substantial.
I would be hard to justify $6k for any of the above new though.

It's my mates one, he didn't want to part with her but his whole family have just moved to aussie thus it is being sold on behalf here by a friend.

Ive ridden it, very nice bike, runs really well and goes blimin quick for a 150 too

Nah mate, they arent shit! Not as fast as an RG, so I am told but they are a very cool lil bike. They go very well and they look good. As you say, for that price you cant go wrong!

they were as fast as an RG, i raced one back when they first came out when streetstock first got going, i had the basic wire wheel one and they were as quick in a stragiht line, however had other problems like a 18" rear wheel that tyres were imposible to get for, and that in right hand corners the pipe scrapped badley,
they were not over matched for the RG, i lead races on that bike and it was as quick as anything else their

They go really quick compared to the RG - KRRZX and the older KR (which is similar in power to the RGV150)
