    Shoei helmet: dumb question/s

    Hi guys

    Dumb question for tonight.

Cruising down to Hamilton today (pillion) I am finding alot of noise happening on the rhs of my helmet, odd, when I put my hand over the top of the visor it vanishes.

Get to where we want to be, take off helmet and the visor lock falls off?

Closer inspection shows the plastic screw that holds the lock and visor to the helmet has gone.

Here is the dumb question/s. Can you buy the plastic screw? On its own? Do you have to buy a new visor to get a new screw? (my visor is not damaged) Heaven forbid, a new helmet to get the new screw? (ok I admit that is the dumbest one of all).

Lucky we have the tape to hold it all together meantime. (Looks ugly though)

I'm not sure about Shoie, but I know Nolan sell accessory packs that includes such items as visor locks, covers clips screws etc. for about half the price of a visor.
    Time to ride

I am happy to pop into Motomail and ask for you and I have a spare Shoei...is it the lock piece which opens the visor when shut or the pivot piece...if Frosty has trubs in his little box I can lend you my part and order a new one and pop up to you tomorrow...

Hang on, I've never heard of a Shoei falling apart like that before. I'd take it straight back to the shop you bought it from under warranty. How long have you had it?

I assume it's never been binned?

The helmet is about 2 years old and in as new condition. The screws are pathetic plastic ones that work loose from time to time. I usually check them each time I go out, but obviously not yesterday. The lock device is in my jacket pocket as the whole thing held together until I actually took the helmet off when we stopped. Only thing missing is the screw.

No worries mate, at least I know you can buy them without buying the whole visor.

Thanks guys, I think maha man is heading to Cycletreads today for a tyre, I will get him to ask there for one. I am staying home to await arrival of youngest daughter back from her Dads place, we need to have a bit of serious one on one time.
