Hey guys,

I am a newbie and am going to be buying my new bike soon, so lately i have been doing my research about various insurance companies and what they can offer. I just got off the phone with a lively and crackup guy named 'Tim' at 'John Baker Insurance', i highly recommend giving this company a call if you need to sort out your motorcycle insurance worries, ask to speak with 'Tim', he gave me the best service and deal so far!

I was using http://www.ebikeinsurance.co.nz/ however they do seem a bit Mickey Mouse and you wonder if you would be actually covered if you were to have a problem. Bit expensive too.

I found that Tower were able to offer a better price and were happy for me to push the excess up to help reduce the premium.

I will certainly give Tim but Dim a call to see what he says.

2006 Hyosung Comet 250. I'm 39 yrs old, clean history, still on learners licence, no previous bike insurance. First figure is full cover, second figure is 3rd party only.
ASB $443/$62, Fintel $504/$236, AMI $286/$26

A very broad range of premiums.
Excess in all cases was around $300

my insurance is through the roof. $700 a year for full insurance, on a 250..... excess was 1200 or somthing. for a bike valued at 6k.

they keep wanking on about blah blah bah loss of licence due to speed, blah blah speeding tickets blah blah careless driving.

actually 700$ (or was it 600? i forget) was teh cheapest, through nac. i rang kiwibike and got told 3k a year. (all beit for a 10k 600cc)

Dave @ Kiwibike is my best bet, good, honest, genuine and reliable bloke mate.

Give him a try. They pay out pretty fast as well and have good customer service. He looks after his customers.

I'm with State - $340 per year. Exess is 800 I beleave.

I'm still new to NZ but i used ebikeinsurance in the UK and had no problems at all paid real quick when i had a bike stolen, was happy to use them here and got the best price too $447 full cover on a cbr1100xx $0 excess, 40 and had a full bike licence for 22 years might have helped a little

Golightly (Vero) were the cheapest for me.

$374 for the year

Kiwibike sound like nice people to deal with and have the cheapest premium for me too but they ended up my second choice cos the excesses were too high.

Mine was through State, $290 which I thought was bloody cheap for full insurance. Bike was new.
