Thumbs down Anyone from here get hit in Petone this morning

Well I have just got into work after a breakfast meeting to be informed that one of my workers had hit a motorcycle this morning on the way to work. Not the way to start a day
I do not have too many details at present but what I do know is that

It happened at around 7.35am today somewhere around the Petone Flyover heading into Wellington

The bike and rider have carried on riding. I suppose thats a good thing. I could have been alot worse.

It must have been a decent hit because the right front guard of the car is pretty much toast

My worker is fairly shaken up about it and would really like to find out what condition the rider is in & make sure that they are ok. He is feeling pretty bad about it.

If anyone from here is involved or knows about this please pm me & we would like to touch base with the rider & make sure that they & their ride are ok. I have know idea on bike type, rego etc...

    Thanks

    Mal

I got hit at about 8:20, but the neither truck nor bike was damaged. Knee's a bit sore though.

Bit of a stink way for your employee to start the day.

Yep he is feeling pretty bad about it all. He was a rider a few years back, in the UK & he knows what its like out there.
Just wants to know that the rider is ok.

So since there's a 50 miniute difference between the two accounts, was it Mal's workmate vs Jim or maybe not?

I very much doubt that Jim was Mals incident...unless the Katana 400 can approach the speed of light.

Not the same incident for sure.

Unless Mal's workmate drives a truck.

It's interesting isn't it. If I ride in the traffic flow I get hit and have a ton of near misses. If I lane split I have no incidents. Happens once or twice a year to me. It must have been a bad morning for people today.

Just to make sure people understand I didn't fall off and there was no damage to my bike. I get sideswiped on a yearly basis. It is a lot less difficult to avoid a car or truck swerving at you than it is to deal with being mid pack, turn one, first lap of a bike race.

This is why exhaust pipes on bikes have rivets. They give you an audible warning that you are scraping down the side of a car.

BTW, I like Jim2 hardly ever get moved over on when lanesplitting, its when your imitating a BMW that it gets hairy.

I've often thought about carrying a handgun so I can shoot the biker so I don't have to tell them I'm a biker after a SIDSYM when driving the car.

Remarkable. Had the same this week.
For some unexplainable reason, I had the feeling that I should ride nicely home from work. Sitting nicely in traffic and behaving and the amount of retards that tried shit was unbelievable.
I even had a bus full of school kids trying to come and join me in my (left hand) lane.
Luckily the feeling passed quickly and I'm back to normal levels of lunacy, where it is considerably safer.
