Riding "fast" Vs riding at pace...

I have a couple of videos up on you tube now.

The last couple are interesting. There is one of me on the 9 on greens road (actually its not greens road, I got the name of the road wrong) which ended up being a pisstake.
It was the first time I had the camera on me and I was trying to ride fast resulting in fucking up just about every corner on the road.
The next video is from Shannon to Palmerston. The last 2 mins is the same road. This time we were relaxed and cruising. Riding is heaps more "normal" and funny enough find on the video that I made it through that road faster.

Anyhow, videos up. Links in my sig. Enjoy.

Don't you hate 'performance anxiety' lol. These vids are bloody awesome fun to make and watch eh! I was playing the latest one at work this morning and a couple of the guys are keen to get going on their learners now. We must get one over the track and saddle soon!

Really enjoyed making these videos the last couple of months. Really fun. "performance anxiety' ? Yeah, Takes a bit to learn to riding "normally" when people are watching. It is all good.

I heard the track had been butchered again. Dammit. What's it like? Why can't these roading guys just sweep the goddam roads when they finish? The bottom of our road was done today and now resembles a fucking ice rink! Thanks for the heads up btw

Sorry Al,was tired and confusing myself, I don't know about the track, I was thinking of the saddle. Your spot on about the sweeping the roads, they do an absolutely piss poor job of it!

thanks. At least some like it . One comment on the last one saying he was bored after a minute was amusing.
The camera is a oregon scentific brought from dick smiths for around the $250-$300. It is not mine. I borrowed it off dogsnbikes a while back and havent returned it yet. Video is recorded onto a 2Gig SDcard at 320x240@30 and built with womble dvd editor and encoded with DivX before uploading to youtube. Mounts with a bracket that is connected to the mirror. My bike shakes around quite alot at speed. The Daytona is a little better but still get the jolting. Tried putting it behind the screen but cant see the road very well. Have considered putting it onto the pillion pegs right above the muffler to see if the sound could be better but havent found a mount that I am sure will still be there at the end of a ride yet.

Saw the vid with Al and Sarah on ,bloody good shots and clarity, like the sounds, gives a good impression of what it's like on a bike.

Must get BB,dial-up way boring, shit even the campground had BB on their computers in the main kitchen, gone are days of B & W tv only in kitchens.

The greens road video felt as dodgey as it looks. It was actaully recorded the same day as the shannon video. We arent fast down here though. To get fast you need to be in auckland.

Seriously though, I have wanted to see myself on video for some time to see exactly what I am doing and not doing. It is a fantastic learning tool and learnt more about how my bike is sitting on the road in 90 mins of recording than in the previous 100,000km of riding. Got a fair way to go to earn the "fast" reputation but then it is not something we aspire to down here. Had an absolute ball doing it though.

Oh yeah, while working on Yods VFR the other day he had the forks off to do the seals. When we were putting it back on we discussed how to install them upside down to make the bike faster but we just couldnt work it out.

    cool vids and stuff.

I *might* be able to organise some high-speed hosting NZ-side so we can put up some high-quality vids, if anyone is interested. Anyone want this ? Wot say ya ?
