    A Marque` reborn

Firstly, searches for this motorcycle marque` turned up nothing, so here's the news. Stoney Creek Powersports here in OZ will be gaining compliance and importing 3 new MZ1000cc bikes. Here's a bit of info on the MZ 1000SF:

SF for Superfighter. Great funbike. Handles very well and surprisingly lacking in turbulence at high speeds for a naked bike. Bye, bye old east block reputation and welcome high tech MZ. 113bhp@9000 rpms. 98NM@7000rpms. Rider: Tor. Pics: Jonathan Sauer (www.pixelrace.de), Ian Kerr and Tor Sagen. See it live in action on Raptors & Rockets the DVD. www.raptorsandrockets.com

Ash Brookes & his brother have been importing them into NZ for the last few years. They are based in New Plymouth.

MZ is now owned by Malaysian financial interests if I recall. The road tests were complimentary although I got the impression that the engine produces rather more vibes than is common these days.

Then again, the original application of the engine was as power source for a concrete vibrator...

It's tough for any new or re-born marque to cut it with the big boys out there.

Agressive pricing is the usual way to the required attention, which will hopefully earn them enough to improve their bikes.

    I wouldn't buy a MK1 of any manufacturers bike.

They looked interesting in the road tests, but how are they doing ? HAven't heard about them for ages! As Pritch says below, they id seem to vibrate more than was desirable..
