    Cool Yamaha Virago

    Where can i get yamaha virago starter for under 100 bucks.. been lookin for one for ages but cant find one.. Any suggestions welcome.. but do not advise bike shops.. they rip me off..

    I believe organised gangs sell parts like this to order at relatively low prices.

    Personally, I'll support the bike shops and know I'll have some comeback if the part is damaged.

    Mr Frosty means what size Virago. There are half a dozen different models.

    It's bound to be the 750 / 1000. Starter problems on them are notorious. Given that just about every known XV750/XV1000 has crapped its starter motor, expecting to pick up a sound one for $100 is optimistic. To say the least.

    I prefer my version --but yea --wot he said.
    If its the actual motor Id have a looksee at the brushes n bushes see if a sparkie can sort it out.
    If the starter clutch --the trick is to use all the stuff from a thou--it works better
    but undetr a hundy--sorry dude

    The most common problem was the starter clutch 300 bucks, had it sorted on the later models. If its brushes just machine car ones down to fit, they are only pencil lead with a string. 100 bucks for one that is ok is a bit optimistic

    Sorry fellaz n sheilaz.. forgot to mention its a XV250... this guy on trademe hu has a lot of starter motors gave me a buy now for 200.. hell no.. gotta chopper project underway and virago 250 is just a runabout..
