Its called context,, however Katman left that bit out.

He basically slagged off Skelly after binning it on the tukas and not to remembering anything about it. Claiming that he must of been hooning and was to embarassed to admit it.

Whereas he actually suffered a bloody big knock to the head (I saw his helmet), and I've riden with Skelly hundreds of times and never seen him take risks.

There are plenty of powerful and wickedly fast boy racer cars out there though. I have even driven a friend of a friend's 650hp Supra myself.

What kills them for high-speed cruising, is their chopped and lowered suspension done solely to make them look "cool", but turns them into peices of shit on anything that even looks like a bump on the road.

If boy racers were to start to have flat-out high-speed racers with each other on public roads, it would be complete carnage.

Does your friends Supra have cut springs? I know plenty of enthusiasts, with cars from mildly modified EVO's through to highly modified GTR Skylines pushing 1000hp. Ain't none of them got cut springs, sure a lot of them are lowered, but on suspension that's worth over a grand a corner. Believe me, these cars still handle. The only people who would use cut springs now days would be those in piece of shit Familias and Bluebirds, not performance cars.

You should try riding my SRAD with its Ohlins rear shock that has heaps of compression damping dialed in. It's like taking hammerblows up the spine on any surface of less than racetrack quality.

(In fact, the shock could probably use a service and a fair amount of setup attention - at this point, I've just left it as it came from two owners ago, when it was a full-time racebike.)

You'd probably find yourself having exactly the same 'piece of shit' experience on bumpy roads in a Porsche GT3 that'd been set up for circuit racing.

It has nothing to do with the suspension being 'shit'; sometimes people really do just want to set their vehicles up for use on the track, and are happy to leave them be and accept the compromised handling on bad surfaces when they go out for a play on the road.

Nah, the Supra had mega $$$ spent on it. There are shit loads of budget boy racer cars around Dunedin though. Quite amusing watching their lowered Honda Preludes and such bouncing over driveway entrances at 10km/h getting out of service stations.

I reckon it's bad enough. But it does seem to be getting worse. When one considers the standard of driving in general in this country, my main marvel is that the road toll is as low as it is!

Yup, on Thursday last week near Timaru on the passing lanes, watched a gaggle of cars passing a large truck - but obviously not quick enough for one Einstien who crossed the double yellow lines into the passing lane for traffic going the other way and passed everybody, truck, other cars, the lot!!
