That makes it 12KG (dry) heavier than my bike so generating heat into your tyres should'nt be that issue weight wise but balance wise might be a different issue, I have a bit of a problem getting heat into the front tyre on my bike hence the tyre wear so low on the front.

LOL ,jesus heavier than a 1000cc bike man thats depressing well yea thats actually makes me feel alot more confident in getting those PP's then ,on the front i would say shouldnt be a problem as its got a sportier setup than the FZ1( low clip-ons) so more weight is forced to the front tire anyways ,especially under braking where it seems to squirm on the pilot sports

What about the seat modification the ulysseys owners do,in particular the female riders ?

There is another way I could look at my issue with front end grip and very low tyre wear, I could try a Michelin Pilot Power Race!

hmm i like the way you think ! ,was actually thinking the same thing but wasnt sure wether they were dot/road approved or not ,but its not a bad idea mate,then again ive seen people reporting 1500kms(they thought it was acceptable milage) from them and that was just on gsr's lol

would probly make the FZ1 a whole new machine tho

Now that looks good enough to sit on!! Thanks HB. Buells are just one option-they seem to fit with the more upright riding style that I like and felt really comfortable just having a sit on one. At the price they are though, I may be looking at something a little less spendy. A few months to go until I can get out and try them all so plenty of time.

Yeah i'm getting on with the bike pretty well these days, just have to be extra mindfull on cold tyres, the Ace used to wear the front and rear tyres out virtually at the same time but the FZ1 I think would easily do two rears to one front. Might have to discuss this PP race idea with Paul at PT's.

ah yea cold tyres heres another idea for a possible fix for your lack of front tyre wear on the FZ1 ,not sure if you have already thought of it but what about adding renthals low bars(or slightly lower bars) just to get more of your weight over the front ? like the ones in the picture maybe..

There is a Bandit at the Honda shop in Palmy already lowered but whoever did it did'nt drop the triple clamps down the forks by the same amount the rear was lowered (easily done really) which was quite silly really as it would upset the handling of the bike somewhat.
My point is lowering a bike be it via the seat or suspension can be done but there are limits.

yea they arent exactly cheap are they ! but they do look bloody nice,and the build quiality ah i want one !! would be a sight to see if someone in the manawatu brought one of them,ya dont see much of them around

Going by the picture (that's the previous generation FZ1) my bars would need to be dropping down from the clamps to gain more weight over the front but going too far in that direction would largely defeat the purpose of getting a bike like this in the first place, if I had wanted to remain in a prone riding position I would have bought an R1

Yea that picture was just as a idea ,you would be going back to the style of the ace really wouldnt you ,but i mean if you got slightly lower (similar to what i did on the hornet) then it shouldnt change it that aggressivly in terms of seating position,as on the hornet it just put a slight amount on the front but nothing drastic it just seemd to level out the wear a bit better.

o ok ,yea says their are two versions on the website ,dont think slicks would go down well in the common gravel sections you keep running into .

Yeah I am thinking that way-no it doesnt have to be new but newish would be nice. ( I will have to sell one of the kids for the Buell though)Most of the adventure bikes seem to have higher seats so some mods would be on the cards.

Rather harsh but I hear what you're saying. Problem is when it comes to test riding time, most of the bikes I like are too big for my short-arse stature-so unless it is already lowered, I can only go by the setup of everything else. I will probably get them to bring a couple home and stand on some hay bales-that way I can have a ride around without getting too cosy with the town traffic.
Couple months to go yet but I am on the lookout. It may turn out that I will stick to the road....but keeping all options open.

Tigers are nice too Sarge and look kind of mean-but they seem a little top heavy with that huge tank (could be just imagining it) when you sit on them. The Buell felt really balanced and weight seemed lower IMO.
