    Mm....yes....well, things turned to crap for me a few weeks ago. I got really really stressed and turned back to bad habits.

    However, I have once again stopped smoking as of today, my collegues have been warned in case I snap for no reason at all. My close friends have also been warned (I know what I was like the first time, thought it best to say sorry now).

    This time is the LAST time. I once again got quite sick so back to the book boomer kindly directed me to and I'm now back into the mindset I was when living in the Hawkes Bay. Some people doubt me that I can do it again since I fell off the wagon but I'm more determined to prove them wrong. Plus doctors visits are costing me a fortune!!!

    One of my collegues is into natural remedies and as directed me to use vitamins to beat the stress so I don't fall back into the ugly habits. Damn Auckland people are really great when it comes to being helpful and understanding. Well people at my work anyway. I have even got one of my collegue to give up with me. My poor boss won't know what has hit her, two women having withdrawals would be like we were PMT for a while hehehehe

    A quote from some weird place on the interdweeb...

    SMOKERS. Enjoy seemingly longer holidays by stopping smoking on your first day off, making every day thereafter appear to be 72 hours long.

    That makes no sense. What does it matter if you put on a few kilos? They can be lost again.

    The last time i gave up smoking i put on a lot more than a few kg and before anyone says it i went on a diet drank lots and exerised but nothing i done stoped the weight gain.

    This time i have been going to sure slim to date i have lost 7kg and i will continue on my fast loss program i go to the gym for a 1.45 hours a day.

    I'm not comfortable with weigh gain when it comes to what i put on the last time. We will see

    The thing that HELPED** me the most, was the support I got. This is what I did ;

    I decided to quit, then gave my last half packet of fags and lighter to my mrs, and asked her to hide them where I couldn't find them. Now the process begins - you all know it well.

    When I was having a shit day, and I hit rock bottom, I needed a smoke real baaaad, so I go to her "please can I have a smoke ? just one will do."

    She wanders off and comes back with a fat sandwich and a cuppa coffee for me, and sits down and says "whats the matter, mate?". And I talk until I feel better.

    At the end of this, she asks "do you still want that smoke ?" and I'm like, "no thanks, I'm feeling much better."

    The other thing that reduced the mind-racing, was taking regular breaks. You must stop every hour or two, or whenever you feel you mind getting too cluttered, and stop, close your eyes, and empty your mind. You were doing this every time you stopped for a smoke, and you mustn't stop doing it or you will feel like you are going mad.. just without the smoke you see.

    It's doable though - everyone's doing it, and so can you.

    ** People can only help. They can never do it for you.

    Funny thing this giving up smoking.....I tired to give up a few times...read Allan carrs book...cold turkey....etc etc...but always went back to smoking wether it be a few days or a few months later. Longest period of not smoking was 18 months.
    I gave up smoking pot easier. Just stopped one day. and haven't smoked since...I was smoking pot mixed in with my tobacco every ciggy except when I was at work.
