i've got a 32mm, a few bigger, and most smaller so probably have a 30 lying around somewhere
righto kids, ej has decided he isn't coming to my place until 3pm, i assume to his having to buy/collect a bitser fxr, so i won't be there till 5
I took the fairing of my bike and it was very fast so had nothing to do. Started reading about oil and filter change and decided that it cant be so hard, and so ended up doing it here on the spot. trouble free - my first ever oil change. I will still come, maybe about 4 ish or 4.30 to see if anyone can teach me how to tighten a chain. and drop you lot some beers anyhow
leaving my house soonish![]()
squiggles back yet?

Good night. Bikes, food, bikes and more bikes...Good stories too.
Thanks to everyone especially to Steve and Andrew.
Also Steve, forgot my brake pads (old) and new rear ones at your shed so if you don't mind holding onto them till we meet next, that would be awesome.
Thanks so much for the great evening falks. Great laugh, learned alot and it was interesting ill the very end. I'm definately gonna pop up to lend a help if you need it and see if I can learn more things. Loved watching bike tinkering 101. Bloody great. Thanks alot all. See youz next time![]()
great effort guys, good to see alot of progess made and everyone still at it late into the night... midnight came way to fast.
the westie screwdriver and hammer soon replaced the honda tool for altering rear shock spring preload. those cuts on my finger came back to haunt me every time i came into contact with petrol/carby cleaner
had the four person mission removing/attaching the tank on ewen's cbr - 3 hours to adjust a throttle cable; turns out it was missing a nut which we fixed by cutting a slot in another nut that was too big, then another from one of stephen's wrecks. at this point ewen remembered he had a spare at home. who would've guessed adjusting a cbr929 throttle cable would take longer than changing vtr250 fork oil?
i hope the vtr forks came out alright despite my nearly knocking the bike over swinging on the strops holding it upright. hopefully no-one tries to drink the fork oil coke bottle. still all good fun: 1"where'd you put my fork cap?" 2"dunno" 3"over there" 1"oh wait, i put that there didn't i?"
aprilia RS 250s officially have the best toolkit sparkplug pullers, and are bloody easy to access the plugs on thanks to clever design. most impressed with the italians for that one
hyosung made life easy by labelling the engine covers like oil filter, but did do the axle nut up a bit tight
stephen tried to bbq fxr parts to fit the gn carb, and once he gave up on it i got it within a minute. and yes a gn250 carb does bolt straight onto a fxr but may run a bit rich till it's tuned properly, and will be prone to falling off unless you modify it/the boot. also, bikes tend to start better when there's fuel in the tank...
i'll assume those still there are still doing the "one night two colour" paintjob with the tiger on one side and fire on the other. enjoyed shaking the spray cans
oh, and timati: cheers for the coronas... all 5 of them
EJ: cheers for the muffins/fizzy drink etc
stephen: cheers for the space/tools/bbq/saussies
hanne: post up those photos!
me: you left your 15" westie hammer/spanner behind. remember to pick it up in the morning (actually i'm glad i brought those extra tools or there would've been real trouble with so many bikes and so few tools). dibs on any sausages left of mine for breakfast
when's the next one?
