    ADV riders posing

i was driving the one of the rig's back from auckland with the boss sleeping in the passengers seat, when i saw a group of bikers on "big" adventure bikes (1200GS etc..)
some of them were standing up on the pigs at about 70-80kph along the motorway, and i wondered why they would do this, its not like they are about to launch a wheelie, or tackle a large obstacle.
so why cruise standing on the pegs?

better to cruise on the back wheel!

Mostly its because at their age the prostate swells when under pressure and so standing is more comfortable

standing up on a BMW makes you an adventure rider...

Because, and I know this for a fact, BMW GS seats are very very uncomfortable after 300 not to mention 1000kms in a day. So standing up occasionally helps with the numb bumb syndrome.

Yes, Anthrax has got it right. It isn't posing, just stretching the legs and taking the weight off the bum. It sure beats sitting and trying to hold the legs out straight like you have to do on a sprots bike.
    Time to ride

Dont think these guys are showing off..or trying to pull whellies..
sometimes when riding a bike a long way...your undergear get a bit uncomfortable,,,,,i stand up a lot and sort of bounce around on the pegs..makes me feel more comfortable..also gives your backside a bit of a rest
dont know why they were standing on the back pegs though?

Whenever my legs get a bit sore from a long trip I can cramp up a bit and need to stand up for a few moments to stretch out.

Not with your lady on the back I hope

I'm all for the standing up and resting the nether regions as well. I can handle a couple of hours continuously on the stock DR650 seat - just.
