    Sidecar advice!

    Hey people,

Was just wondering what sort of effort it takes to get into sidecar racing? It looks like bloody good fun being the swinger! Are there any sidecar racers on here that can tell me a little bit more about the sport and how one would get into giving it a go? I'm trying to get into motorcycling more *currently working on a project bike* and would love to get into racing a little. Maybe give it a go * at a slow speed and see if it's for me*. I hear the next sidecar meet is in october, and I might be in america at that point in time for some studies. Would love to get some advice from sidecar people.

    Drider

The sidecar have a go day is in October at Taupo, poofters like Scrivy will take you out for a few slow laps because thats the only speed he does

I'm not sure about club days up there but down here we race pretty much all year round

In Auckland you could contact Chris Lawrence, he's the current President of the NZSRA pm me if you'd like his number
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."

How to be a sidecar racer
Lesson 1: Talk shit. Like, really really talk shit. So much your farts are minty fresh cos it all comes out your mouth.
Zen wisdom: No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously. - obviously had KB in mind when he came up with that gem

Lesson 2: repeat lesson 1 until you need a shower
Lesson 3: HTFU cos they're only bruises
Lesson 4: grow the balls to piss off Riff Raff at 3:00am the night before a Nationals round with a music cd made for 2 year olds
Lesson 5: either be a tea totaller or drink enough piss to sink a battleship
Lesson 6: wank lots cos a hard on gets in the way when you're swinging or riding

I'd amend that to Lesson 3 : HTFU cos they're only fractures

That's cause I am incredibly helpful Unlike Scurvy and Sidecarboob

Unfortunately up there the October 19th Have a go day is going to be your best bet to try having a go on the side and give you an idea of whether you would like to try it full time (subject to a position being available)

Mate, I've been keeping my eye on these dodgy sidecar guys for a while now. Those lessons are actually an accurate assessment of what is needed to be a sidecar racer!!!! Occasionally they get out and rip around a circuit for a lap or 2, but mostly they talk shit.

Actually, Kick, after you've had a go on our widowmaker at the H-a-g-d - I can guarantee Drider87 that there will be a position to fill...... On Divvos chair!!!

    Booked that helicopter flight yet???

That's ok Drider87, you don't need much of a look to get into the sidecar scene these days - you just need a big chequebook
