I looked at a black one in Casbolts this week - better in the flesh than the photos. Looks better than the Suzuki, but out of the lot the R1 has a wee bit of something extra in the looks dept.
Man its small, narrow and very very compact. The overseas reviews are loving it.
No point in a test ride - there is no way I'd use that power![]()
Finally saw the beast in the flesh today. Interesting bike, seems to be one of those designs that the paint scheme could make or break (burgendy, what were they thinking), black and silver is much better, as is the black and white that I have seen in pictures, some very classy aspects, LOVE the steering damper setup running under the lip of the tank, vey tidy, close up the detailing is fantastic, the frame and swingarm are beautiful and overall the bike seems really flat and compact. Still dont like the front but I guess you dont see that while you're on it and the flat nose might be easy to look over while you're hoisting a high one (Sparky Bills to confirm soon I'm sure!!).
Whens the Repsol coming out? It should be a dead ringer for the current RCV!
Looking foward to having a ride to decide for sure what I think.
It looks like it shunted into a fat pedestrian.
Good shyte, if I could still ride I'd be over in a flash. Probably on my 05 600RR. Anyone who thinks there is something wrong with Hondas has been hanging around SM for too long or really believes the dribble that comes from the inbreed gixxer flock. There is a reason why Honda is the worlds largest motorcycle company. But then again, I would not want to see more twats owning a Honda either...![]()
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.
Saying that, I didnt think the 05 was a bad bike at all.
Its just that the 06/07 was an improvment![]()

Well it certainly looks smart in the flesh. I kicked the tyres, sniffed it, poked it, sat on it. Yes, it's a motorcycle alright. I can spot one a mile away.
The quality of finish is even better than Honda's normal high standard.
If I was shopping for a 1000cc/four it would be my choice of the current crop. My only gripe - and it's becoming an annual comment! Yet another round of new models without a gear indicator..what the hell is it with them all (not just Honda) refusing to add this simple and useful item?
I see Bike UK tested all the 08 Jap 1000s and all four testers picked the CBR as the bike to have. The CBR won their 0-60mph, standing 1/4 mile runs and the roll-on tests. It was a totally unbiased test and just to prove their point, the Honda reps on hand generously gave the others an unfair weight advantage over the CBR by removing all their fuel. Burdened with a full tank the CBR still outdrove the other stalled bikes.

Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
I had a nosey through the window on Sunday avo... both versions look bloody sensational in my opinion. But I'm still keen to see what the new V-Twin looks like... I'm tipping that to be a big seller.
Meh - All the magazines chose the 07 CBR as the best of the 600s. Didn't stop me from buying the kwak and being as happy as a pig in shit.
Always a bit suspicious of the UK mags (although I don't doubt they were impartial in this test). Whenever I see a Triumph in a test I know before reading the result that it will win. What was it with Bike magazine that had four Triumphs in the top 10 last year and their number 2 bike hadn't even been tested by them.
It's good.
It's small. It's light. It's easy to 'understand'. It goes around corners. It stops. It goes. It's even not uncomfortable. Every facet of it's operation, easy as.
Step off a 250 and onto this? Yep, why not. Just as long as you never let the revs go past 9000rpm you'd be okay.
After that, all hell breaks loose. And honestly, I never really got a chance to see what happened after that. Maybe I need another go.......
Must say its nicer looking in the flesh than I thought it would be,but MUCH better looking as a racer.
I wonder why they abandoned the undertail exhaust and went back to the "whale cock" tuba sticking out the side? It looks like a 10l tin can of italian olive oil whacked on the side.
TOP QUOTE: “The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”
finally got around to having a real look today.
what an awesome bike! i have to admit the front looks a bit "special" but as i was expecting that there was no initial shock. first thing i noticed was the finish. last years model was parked up in front and when you compare the two there are little differences that you would love or hate. for instance the mirrors on last years bike while good im sure, are just bolt on mirrors ... while the newer bikes mirrors do just bolt on they are just that little bit better.
the second thing i noticed is that it really is tiny, or at least it looks tiny with a very narrow seat so good for short buggers like me.
one thing that does irk me is the under tail / indicator bit being all one piece so a tail tidy would be an expensive bit of kit.
all said and done it just reinforces the fact that honda really do make a superior bike
it would be interesting to hear from more people that have had a ride on one.
