    Attempted motorcycle theft in Auckland

Just a warning to Auckland Bikers... yesterday (22/04/2008) at around midday, in full public view on a busy road in the central city, and even on security camera some scum bag attempted to steal my GSXR1100. The person used some tool to smash the ignition lock, but was unsuccessful in either unlocking the steering lock or in starting the bike. The footage is yet to be obtained from the security system, but the person is believed to be a male around 6ft, thin, and was wearing a helmet and a back pack. This person is extremely brazen, even when spotted by staff acted like they belonged there or owned the bike. I'd love to frikkin this lowlife! My steering lock now cannot be unlocked!

it would be real interesting to see if the guy on the video footage matched the discription of the guy on the possible sighting of my bike!

Cheers guys. Any ideas about where to look for a replacement ignition system would be appreciated. Would prefer to have matching ignition, tank filler and seat lock. Any offers of help to remove and replace the ignition would be appreciated too. I have no idea how it's going to be removed due to the position it's locked in. This might need to go to the bike shop and be an insurance job me thinks.

Unfortunately I've already seen the footage and it's not all that clear due to the zoom out that was set at the time.

Couldn't agree more. I felt that angry last night I wanted the guy dead. I mean it's not just a scumbag thing to do, but how braindead is this guy to think he would get the steering unlocked and successfully started after mashing the lock. Deeeeeeerrrrrr! Probably a frikin P Junkie or something!

worst part is if they do catch him........he'll get a pat on the wrist, and if he has to pay anything it'll go to the gov and you won't see a cent for the damage.

Fix a computer and it'll break tomorrow.
Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.

White full-face lid? Possibly missing the visor?

The person that saw him said that the helmet was multicoloured, but to me it looked either white or light grey in the footage. Didn't appear to be multicoloured. I'll check with the person and get back to you. Why do you ask?

    Bugger!

I park my bike right next to Borg's and I was in and out several times yesterday and didn't notice anything. I should get my desk moved next to the window. Hopefully these assholes realize mine can't be started without the key so they don't fuck my lock.

Let me know when ya get the tape Borg so I can have a look.
