Bikes suitable for very small people?

I now have a full licence, and I'm wanting to get a bigger bike. It would be nice however to get one that my partner could ride too (she's currently on a learners licence).

She's less than 60Kg, and 158cm tall (5'2") which means we need something with a reasonably low and/or narrow seat.

I've had a look around, and things like the Honda Hornet 600 and the new Triumph Street Triple are things she can fit on, but the latter is pushing the price out a bit much :-)

Ideally I'd like to find something suitable for less than $10,000

A 2002 SV650 with a 1 inch lowering kit should do the trick. If not the ER-6n as nodrog said.

Bikes can be lowered & she's tall enough to ride a lot off models but wouldn't get her on to a too big of a bike until she has a lots of confidence and gained a bit of experience.
It's whats comfy for both of yas

I'm 161cms and have sat on LOTS of different bikes. The ER6n is actually deceiving... It is taller then it looks.

The best bike I have ever sat on and ridden is the 06/07 Suzuki GSXRs... They have narrow seats and the seat height isn't much different to my RG150! I'm very close to flat footing them... Stock

That was going to be my suggestion, too. The K6-K7 GSX-R750 weighs less than a SV650, has a lower seat height, the bars are closer etc etc. And yet they will quite easily accomodate a 6ft rider (me, for instance)

My wife is about the same hight and weight. She seems to be able to ride most bikes but has a bit of trouble with some off road bikes and heavy road/sports bikes

I think the SV650 would be a great choice

However a pit bike is the best bike for very small people

Depending upon what year SV... I have found some of them to be rather tall! I think it's cause the seats are quite wide.

The 750 is only 2Kg heavier... No physical size difference

Yep, I concur. The K7 600 feels a lot lower than my K6 650. If I had the readies I'd have one in a heartbeat. Not too sure that it would be a good bike to learn on though.

Can the afore said lady fit on your VTR?
