My name is Number one and I am a chat addict!
You are so right DB - chat is so much more real and is a conversation rather than the disjointed line of thought that thread posts gives you, it's so easy to become almost disassociated from posters on threads because they so often just turn into a bunch of statements thrown back and forwards by a bunch of people that I don't know and may never meet...so in the scheme of things it doesn't really matter much to me how I am seen or perceived.
In saying that some threads deserve true consideration about what, why and how (if you do) you do post. Again there are some blardy genuine and beautiful people on here but as in all of society some people are just pricks - the trick is picking them out before you get taken for a ride (or similar).
BTW: I am NOT innocent. I do enjoy giving the odd bit of ribbing but I would never mean to come across as being pointlessly nasty! I am filthy, silly, sometimes obnoxious, smart arsed, stupid, grumpy and I can rant with the best of them...I hate to see injustice and have strong opinions on most things...but I am also someone who likes to try different perspectives on for size, sometimes the reactions you get to posts on KB teach you about the world, people and other stuff - holds up a mirror of sorts....which in the scheme of things is a pretty safe way of testing some boundries
Fark time for a ride that got far too deep![]()
Comments about KB have prompted me to forward this vid as a prospective theme song.......I think you get the idea!

Dating site for bikers ?![]()
As has been said tirelessly before, the major difference between Kiwi Biker and other Internet forums is the high degree of engagement that its members have in the real world.
On that basis I am appalled at the bullying and domestic violence that is prevalent here, a bit like what happens in New Zealand society generally, I guess.
There are times when the "KB spirit" is astounding and life-changing. At other times it is stultifyingly banal. My wish is that if the former condition is a 10 and the latter a 1, that we aim for a steady state of 7, rather than the current 3.
I've decided that I don't ride my bike enough, after winding on about 35,000km in the last 12 months. And I've bought a helmet camera so I can relive the moments when I can't ride. I am thinking of posting these on www.rideslikeanana.com

Being moderately new to the whole biking scene. I went looking for a good site online, when I got my bike, where I would be able to meet some other riders to plan rides. Go to the social events, and events like The Hill Climb and the Sprints. Also to gain knowledge about riding, maintenance and basically everything one could want to find out about bikes and riding in general...
And low and behold I happened upon Kiwi Biker. A "one stop shop" if you will, a place where just about anything you could wish for about bikes existed.
So far, I have met in person some fantastic people. I have ridden with some fantastic people, and I have interacted online, with again some fantastic people.
Have recommended the site to a few people as well. As a good source of info..
Happened across a couple of bikers, the other day who had not heard of KB, so I put them onto it. Received a PM from one of them, basically along the lines of..... Bloody hell there's some shit being flung on here, "You ride with any of these wankers...?.." ....Count me out....!!!
(edited for obvious reasons)
Well sitting there slightly stunned at that, as the person in question is mild mannered and not given to statements like that on a normal basis.....Got me to thinking. Most of the people posting, go on what you have posted in the past. Even the stuff that is obviously piss taking and good natured mud slinging between "online mates" or even real life mates, has a different meaning to someone viewing threads for the first time...
I think KB is what you make it, post shit, be prepared to receive the same in return. Post advice which is worthwhile, and you will get the same in return.
Me I am the same in real life. I enjoy a good piss take and bullshit slinging with mates and work colleagues, and "online mates" as well. But will always act and say the same things in real life..
So the reputation of KB in the real world is from my point of view both good and bad at the same time. It could be better in some areas, but then again, nothing is perfect...

appreciate your views. And find myself wondering how many potential quality rider mates/friends we are missing out on for the actions of a few (<2 in my view)
