The 007s had an awesome ride back up going through Te Awamutu...Twisties everywhere with just a drop or two of rain

Thanks again to the three awesome people that are MSTRS, Yungatart and Hxc...love you guys heaps! Your hospitality is just flawless. Tart, your parents are just adorable, and your Mum gives the best hugs.

Absolutely awesome to finally meet Mikkel (you boozehag you), and I am absolutely blown away by your capacity to ingest alcohol and remain coherent but mostly about how interesting it was to just talk...Neil and I will definitely try to visit for ski/snowboard season.

Chancevy, you are just one of the loveliest people I have ever met...and thanks for the pointers to hubby on the "shearing"

Bloody Mad Woman...we talked for quite some time, and yet, I didn't know it was you you are an awesome lady and I loved your attitude (you got spark!)

And of course, catching up with the usual offenders

I always marvel at how a place like KB is filled to the brim with so many fantastic people.

    Infract his arse...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

hehehe...tempting but as you and I discussed at length on Saturday night , discipline and fairness should go hand in hand...

Eh btw...I went back to 29 pounds in the front and 32 in the back tyre. It really seemed uncomfortable with anything lower.
Neil has gone onto the Avon site and has found that they do a 140/70/17, so the guy who sold the 130 (saying Avon didn't do a 140) to us was just full of shite
Neil's printed the info and is going to demand we get a 140 as we wanted in the first place.

    Right then….
The promised report from our perspective.
The Big Birthday Bash on Saturday started on Thursday at about 11pm with the arrival at ChezOurs of Colapop (who insists he is Col in real-life.. ) ably pillioned to these parts by Bloody Mad Woman (and who wouldn’t be to even consider doing that?). So a late night followed, pretending to be practice for the actual event. Friday some rose early to do the Anzac thing and some stayed home gathering strength to get busy gathering the necessaries for said event, then following progress from Orkland of Stickchick and Tide (what a patient man he is). Biggest trip attempted by Sticky and she did complete it, so well done girl!! (Helpful hint #35 – don’t stop so often and the rest at the end will be longer …). Mikkel, in the meantime is heading north and is expecting to require meeting at Takapau/HW50 at about 7ish. So arrange to call in at TeamCudby’s in Tikokino to collect Mike then head to the rendezvous…but get a txt from Mikkel to say he is just leaving Masterton (6.05pm)…oh good, time for a meal…then off to meet him. (I think watches, calendars and clocks etc aren’t yet in use in ChCh. Either that, or Mikkel misread what happens when one crosses the International Date Line ). Get back to Napier with TeamCudby in tow as well, just in time to greet the 007s. We’ve got a fair houseful by now
So now that the troops are gathering, we had to have another practice run at being up late…*sigh*
Saturday dawns somewhat damp (bloody weather forecasters couldn’t be wrong this time, could they?). Get the call at about 10 that the Mahas, BusaPetes and Madduck are leaving Taupo , so 007XY and I jump on the bikes to go meet them. As luck would have it I got rain-kitted so of course the sun came out and that was the last rain we saw. Bloody forecasters – can’t trust ‘em…I was warm….
You’ve heard the shitty-shirt story, so moving right along, I gave the Orklanders the learn back to ChezOurs, where a welcome coffee got us in the mood for an afternoon pootle in the back blocks. Dooly had brought Chanceyy and Sugilite here in the meantime, which saved one of us having to do double duty in the greeting stakes. Phew!!! ( Even now I’m having trouble recalling all the arrangements…gods, I hope there isn’t a little Kber waiting somewhere for me to turn-up??…). Off to get gassed up, 8 bikes head up SH5 and turned left up Glengarry Rd, through to Puketitiri Rd, and right to Rissington and then Patoka. A quick conflab and we decide to turn back (there may have been a spit or two of rain to help this decision, but just quietly I think the outlanders had run out of tissues ). We took the slightly longer way home via Apley Rd and Puketapu/Poraiti, so about 120kms of HB Bliss. The Orklanders seem to think that ride was the HB version of a P run…what do they know? We never even went to Patangata or Parongahau...Those that stayed behind had done a sterling job preparing the salads etc
Thanks girls – it’s good to know that KB chicks know their place (except Chanceyy – can the Manawatu crew please remedy that state of affairs, thanks).
Now we just settled in to the serious business of having the best time possible. And it was. Loads more arrived in dribs and drabs throughout the next few hours. Everyone got well feed (thanks me on BBQ duties). There was even an old man running about in his long johns at one stage scaring the good womenfolk. The evening sort of finished when the last three hanger-on were summarily executed at about 4am (we have neighbours, don’t you know). One of the photos earlier in the thread identifies them, if anyone wants to know – I believe a guitar was involved .
Those that had stayed appeared in a bleary-eyed coffee-bereft trickle from about 7am through to after 11 (there’s that South Islander and their odd sense of time again). The well-happy bods slowly shuffled off home, leaving the Warkworth branch to look after the newly-olds. They managed to tear themselves away from our sunny climes with a gentle ride in tandem to the Summit Tearooms, Te Haroto. I say ‘gentle’ so as to not offend their sense of self-esteem, so please nobody tell them that my tyres only warmed up on the way back…
Lastly, a huge thanks to all who came, participated, provided overflow accommodation and otherwise helped to make for a wonderful, memory-filled weekend of fun filled frivolity. We didn’t do anything but provide the venue – it was all of you who were here that made it such a great weekend. Thank you, one and all.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
