The half hour walk to work this morning finally cleared the cob webs. Thanks for the grips Gary. Hope Sarah and Al are recovered.

Yep, Saturday could have been better, but I think my mind is OK now.

Really sorry to hear about the off Ferris, there sure seems to be something in the air around here lately. Glad you're unhurt!

Cheers, Al! As it turns out, I'm not completely unscathed. I feel like I’ve been learning how to barefoot water-ski again. My biggest worry is having no memory from the 100kph sign at the end of the bridge to the corner concerned. I remember the accident from the “Oh shit” point, but nothing in the approximately 1.5km before. After checking out the accident scene yesterday, I have to wonder if I was even awake. I’d rate this corner as near impossible to fuck up. That scares the shit out of me!

    Hmmm, the aftermath eh...
Look after ya noggin mate, sound a bit like you may have suffered some sort of concussion.

I saw your helmet. You have concussion.

No swift head movements for a week. I've seen a guy pass out in the air on a SuperX track while jumping a triple. He had a huge crash the week before and was suffering a decent concussion (bruising and sweeling on the brain on the area of impact and sometimes on the opposite side as well). The sudden change in direction (up and over the jump) knocked his brain inside his skull and he passed out.
Needless to say the landing was messy.

I've had 10 decent ones and I know they can kill you so take it easy for a week dude. It the reason I don't race anymore. I was stood down from competing for 6 months after the last one.

speaking of head protection - the new helmet (AGV) and gloves (alpinestars) arrived this morning from the US, 1 week from when i ordered and about half the price you'd pay here - mint

How well does the helmet fit. They make 3 different head shaped helmets. Apparently there is a US market one, a Euro one and an asian one. We get the Euro one.

Cheers for that Simon! I'll certainly take your advice, though I'm surprised my GP didn’t mention concussion, when I raised my concerns. I told her of my loss of memory and showed where my head is a little tender. That may explain the headache and sore eyes when driving back from Pahiatua yesterday.

primo....snug and comfy, proibably better than the Nolan

i have to give it a bit of a wriggle to get my big ears straightened out tho

i got a size bigger than i normally do in the gloves and it proved to be a good idea - the alpinestars tend to be a bit small

Good move, A-star seem to be a little miserable with their sizing.
They do as you'd expect and stretch a little but being snug of fit rather than too small is fine by me as far as gloves go.
My Clover RS-3's are still quite a bit more comfortable though.

heard good things, read good things, found good pricing on it (Stealth model), and liked the look and graphics too and it's fibreglass, not polycarb

    Nolan was great but:
-wasn't too fussed on flip-up, i didn't mind it, just felt i didn't really need it
-it was a bit heavy (partly due to it being a flip-up)
-it was a bit noisy - will wait and see what the agv is like
-change is as good as a holiday

gloves are mint, Drystar Vega - neoprene, leather, carbon fibre and thinsulate - these will be my new winter/touring gloves, have got some straight out lined leather teknics on the way too, for the warmer weather (my old rev-its were good, but they were an arse when it was hot)
