    DR mania

A quick spin on the DR this morning netted 585 kms and back by 2:30 pm.
I can say the seat gets a a little harsh by the 400 k mark but i like the DR even more after every ride (even in dead stock trim)
First big ride coming up soon,Darwin,Cape York and back.

Great pics. Been "planning" for some time now to do the Cairns to Cape York ride but just having trouble co-ordinating mates to hurry up and get their road licenses (they're all off roaders) but seeing those pictures makes me think bugger them and to go anyway.

Hi Jamie... Some of the places i have taken the DR so far, a TL would have been abandoned in the bush

    Hi Mike..
The drawings should be in the 10's of 1000's of years...
All the mud is washed off.
It is the dry season now so i stripped the DR the other week and went over it.
It had gone to the dealers the prior week for its (late) first service, all they did was change the oil and filter ($195) and had left the oil filter cover and sump plug covered with crud.
I ended up changing the oil and filter again plus doing the first service myself (valve clearance check etc etc !!!)

Hi John ?? ( I was on the TL1000 on the ride to the forgotten highway a year or so back )
Cairns is only a plane ride away Any trip to the Cape would need to be done in the dry season, the wet will start around late October/September so would be a no go by then.

Hi Marks ..It will start to get fairly brown soon (thay have already started burn offs (quite a bit of smoke haze on the way to Jabiru.
It is the start of the dry season now so the humidity has dropped off quite a bit (can be a little cool early mornings) but temps are still in the 30's in the day time.
Its 6:15 PM now and around 30 degree's.
Being the Tropics it is either the wet or dry season, fairly warm year round.

Hi Buggsubique something a little different from back home (NZ)

I am still waiting fore the 30 litre fueltank to arrive which should push the range up to around 600 kms between fills and have started to order other bits to set the DR for cross country riding.
Considering i had been looking at BMW and KTM twins when i decided to go dual sport, the DR has turned out to be a gem (the light weight is a bonus) and it has no problems cruising at 120 kmh.

    Just awesome photos.
Ducatijim and I will be passing through your neighbourhood on a couple of DR's in about 4 weeks. Glad to hear you find them a good machine for the task.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

That's putting it a bit mildly isn't it At least in stock you got to get off to fuel more often.
