I find it interesting how some heterosexual people feel the need to get all defensive over this issue. Jumping up and down, banging on tables and going on about how they have no problem whatsoever with homosexuals.

To be honest, it's not something I've ever really thought about. The whole gay/straight identity thing has always appeared rather odd to me. I don't define myself by who I have sex with.

I do define myself, though, by my motorcycle.

Christ, and I thought MARK could spout shit! My comment about not caring whether someone was gay or straight when out riding with them was in direct response to a post by MaxB who said the same. Is HE protesting too much, or is it okay for him to say this because he's male? It's not like I spouted the old "some of my best friends are [insert gay/coloured/religious/etc]" line!

Who DOES define themselves by who they have sex with? I don't recall hearing gay people go on about who they have sex with, nor do they appear to be defined by their orientation.

Purports, that's a BIG word for a little boy to use! You could also use a lesson in comprehension. Homophobia means a hatred of or fear of homosexuals. Can't find anything in any of my posts that alludes to that. My annoyance was directed at people who thought ALL women who rode motorcycles were lesbians. I get just as annoyed by people who think ALL journalists write lies for tabloid papers. It's unfounded generalisations that irritate me.

I was once hit on by a guy I wasn't interested in who immediately thought I was gay because I didn't fancy him. Same thing as the motorcycling females must be lesbians line - I'm not worried about being thought of as gay, I'm pissed off that people lack the originality to think of any other reason for a person's behaviour.
