Do a search on Google for your bike and "workshop manual dowload" or something along those lines and you'll probably get it for free.

Thanks for your thoughts.... Had a look through the couple of "Manuals" threads on here and done some other searches. Seems they werent much of an export machine from Japan as really the only info refers to FZR's. Even in Waikato Yamaha when I was there buying an oil filter we had to guess that the FZR one was prob the right one. (And it was when I fitted it too!! )
But there is nothing on eBay either..
I think as a bike of '86 vintage and imported is such small quantity I am not going to hold my breath for a manual.
would be good to know of previous owners that have any knowledge of that model....

That makes it harder, you could try contacting Yamaha in Japan.
One of my mates managed to get an English translation of the factory manual for a home market Nissan by contacting the corporate headquarters. They were able to refer him to a Japanese source. It depends on whether Yamaha can be bothered helping and also if there is anything available in the first place I guess.
    Good luck in your search.

Does anyone know the differences between the FZR motor and the FZ motor ?
