    Let's knock the bastard off!

.Im looking for a few relatively hard Men.... or Women. For a Himalayan Adventure at the end of October. I have a friend who has been going there since the 1980s to buy fabrics and ethnic brassware. He knows the area, the locals, the food and the customs. Plus, hes a biker from wayback!

Basic plan is hire bikes in Delhi. Head to Jahdapur and visit the Royal Enfield factory. do a 4-5 day loop through Rajistan to aclimatise and get into the Indian way of driving. Then start climing into the Himalayas. Paul knows the roads and the villages well and assures me that he will help us find the bargains and tourist highlights - The Elephant Orphanage at Saharampur. And the remote valley high in the mountains where the second best hashish in all of India comes from!
The loop through Rajistan Punjab,The Himalayan mountains and Nepal and back to Dehli is about 1300km and should take about 12 days. Paul has set this time of year as it is after the monsoon season but before the bitterly cold winter hits the higher altitudes.
We may get to see the Taj Mahal too and Ride Elephant Taxis to a monestry high on a cliff top. we are looking for a group of about 10 and would prefer
riders who havent ridden there before..
Paul is a wizz with the shipping of Ethnic furniture and fabrics and jewelry-
you could easily cover the cost of this trip by shipping home a couple of grands worth of stuff
let me know if you are keen-

Make sure you visit your GP, and get the relevant shots.
Definetly visit the Taj, and while there, you may as ride a couple of the highest passes on the planet. Tanglan La, and Kahdung La. (18000ft).
    Enjoy.

Paul - the guide, works on $50 per day for accomodation and food.
petrol prices are as per here. Bike hire will be around $50 per day. we are looking at a safe figure of $150 per day. Im waiting for bike hire quotes to come back at the moment. will post as soon as I get them.
Air fares and insurance come out just on $2500 so we should piss in for $5000 and Paul reckons 2grand spent on the right stuff will net 6 grand in NZ

Aero- you're a motorcyclist- we all speak the same language! In my business I have clients from 14 to about 65. I find that if they are adventurous enough to come on my rides they are the right kind of people to have a bloody good time with! Click here for photos Paul is sorting some more photos today to show you guys where he goes- I will put a few up here tonight.

Without trying to sound like too much of a tight ass... what are the actually chances of covering the costs by shipping things back? I wouldn't mind a bit more information about this process. Unless it's top secret

Ahh yes.... top secret.... All I can say is the furniture does not need to be stuffed with hash to make a tidy profit anyway. but of course it makes it all a tax deductable business trip if you bring back stuff to sell.

It sounds like an amazing adventure! What kind of bikes would we be riding? Would the whole experience be rushed or would it be about enjoyment and sight seeing? Not that I wanna be a Nana I just don't wanna blast the whole way through

We will be riding brand new 50 year old bikes.- Royal Enfield Silver Bullets.
They are the perfect bike for the country. They make them there still.
there is also a diesel conversion for them!! they are 500cc singles with
kick start and pre unit gearbox drum brakes. they have improved electrics - CDI and Loud Horns.

We will get out of Delhi as quick as we can and settle into a nice touristy pace for the first five days. Riding only 80-100km each day. Then as we travel through Punjab the pace picks up with the towns being wider apart. A,s we hit the himalayas the roads are rough and dangerous, bandits and drug dealers roam the highlands. Afgahni freedom fighters often skirmish with the Indian Army and we may get caught up in a few firefights. If you get shot- please inform the tour leader.

    Are ya still comin????
