And there is exactly what a lot of people forget: disability does not mean something obvious to the naked eye. Disease or not though, you're an awesome person, that's for sure!

    And too blimmin nice...
In my typical "I don't give a shizzer" attitude, I just open my mouth...I profoundly dislike people disrespecting other people.

Of course there is hun...may have to do with the fact that the bike community is very much one where people respect each other and help each other.

    You go, girl!
That type of behaviour pisses me off no end!

As part of my job, I get to transport kids with varying degrees of disabilities. Once at the the hospital hydrotherapy pool, I had parked in the "Therapy Patients only" parking, (displaying our disability card in the window) only to be ticketed because I was not in a "Disabled Park"

On one other occasion, I confronted a rather large gent as he parked in a disabled park. He waved his artificial leg at me asking if it was disability enough for me. I told him "Not without the parking permit to go with it, Sir".

We need to stand up and confront these morons!

Well it is one of those days today and I came about as close as I ever have to starting a girl on girl rumble.

    Story goes like this:

Took my wee boy to the supermarket today to get some bits and bobs and while looking for a park close to the door the lady in front of me pulled into the last "expectant mothers & caregivers with small children" parking spaces.

All good...there are heaps of parks clolse so I pootle into one, park up and got my boy out the car and over to the footpath. As I do this I watched that woman 'who parked in the mothers parks' get out of her car, lock it and sauntered into Starbucks. No kids in tow or left in the car, nor any car seats to be seen...btw clearly she was not an expectant mother (skinny as a rake she was so even is she were expecting it were the kind of expecting that doesn't make crossing a road difficult)

Typical! I thought and started to feel my blood boil.

Then as I was getting my boy into the trolley for a ride around the supermarket I watch as a woman with 3 littlies all under 5, struggle to get them all out of the car and safely across to where I was. I offered to wait with her littlest one in the trolley next to me, and appreciatively and breathlessly she thanked me and got the other two out of their carseats.

Anyway the more I thought about this the more it pissed me off. SO feeling in the "dying for a round with someone' mood - I decided that I wouldn't just let it be and approached the biarch sitting on her bony arrogant arse in the coffee shop.

I said Excuse me, I just have to say this...I think it is very rude of you to park in those parks and then went on to explain about the lady with the three kids. To this the woman rolled her eyes and snarkily said "well good on you" to which I replied...Hmmm figures! Your an arrogant bitch - bet you park in handicap spaces too' turned on my heals and walked off...of course she reacted by shouting some verbal abuse of her own after me...i calmly spun back around and told her to "talk to the hand" and walked off...cos if I stuck around I know things may well have escalated.

Later as I perused the bread isle a little old lady approached me and said "good on you dear for having her up about that - it's just not on when people do that", and she went on to explain that she has a handicapped daughter who is constantly put out by people like this.

So we had a little chat about how Rude, arrogant people like that woman get away with this behaviour and continue it. Musing about whether because they mostly go unchallenged they continue and others also will do it without thinking too much about it. She agreed, but of course being a little old lady said she would never confront someone about it.

WELL I say - let's all stand up and let these pricks know that this is unacceptable and that while by 'parking there' (and that womans instance taking her sweet time in the coffee shop) they 'get away' with it I at least I hope I pissed her off and embarrased her enough that she might think twice about doing it next time.

Probably not though! The snooty bitch, while clearly riled and somewhat taken aback that I called her on it, in front of a full cafeteria of people is clearly the kind of muppet who doesn't give a shit about anyone beyond her own perfectly made up face - btw all that makeup wasn't really helping matters anyway!

PS: I wouldn't hesitate to do this again either and no I don't think that I should've been more polite about it...Fark her and anyone else who does this...to me there is NO excuse...and I don't think "I'm going to be really quick" is a good enough either.

Have the same thing happen at times with the disabled parks. I'm a prick and at times just park my car behind theirs and if they return I say I'm waiting for a tow truck. Been abused only once and I removed an arm from my wheelchair and commented on how good a weapon it would be and I'd been wanting to see how much damage I could do with it for some time. The punk backed off pretty quickly but by that time a few other bods had come over to give a hand/fist if required. I'm dangerous if Im in a pissed off mood because the pain level is too high. Too many selfish fuckers in this world caused by polictical correctness and too many dumb fucks to stop it from getting worse. I will end up bashing someone in the future if they start with the "park rage" because of being told the truth which I allways do politlely at first. Some people need to learn that when you come as close to death as I have and live with pain all your life, that I'm no longer worried about being hurt as long as I make the opposition very hurt in the process.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

I got a warning letter the other day for "punching a vehicle" while riding the SV to work. Prick decided to park in the middle of the road because he wanted to change lanes.

Honest, I didn't get physical till the git mouthed of at me

    Nice Audi though.

No, I have no idea what you are talking about

Seriously though, people like your latte sipper today are seemingly on the increase.

I see some comment regarding the fact that kiddie parks are a new thing, we did not have them in the olden days. No we didn't, but I really wished we had. I have had the 3 kids under 5 experience, would have been great to have been so close to the shops. As it was I think I traumatised my eldest child, she could not take her hand off the car because "she was not safe" otherwise...LOL. She still reminds me about it now.

We dont have these new fangled parent parks where we live, but we sure do have disabled parking places. I do not hesitate to call someone out if I see them parked in a disabled park without the card displayed. I even complained to our local council (we do have a parking warden) to get some action out side our post office.

I received an irate call one day at work from a woman who could not use a disabled park due to one of our work utes taking the space! I apologised and promised action. It was a rep (he said he did not see the sign on the pillar) this a private car park, no yellow wheelchair painted in the park. He was mortified! Went to the florist, bought some flowers, found the lady in question - having her hair done at the salon in the plaza. Apologised in person and gave her the flowers.

Good on you for speaking out #1! Personally I would have just given her the bash

Pity you couldn't have just flopped the young one up on her bonnet and changed his pooey nappy! Adding a smear or two to the windscreen and wipers for good measure, of course....

But then, I'd never encourage that kind of behaviour now, would I?

Good to hear! Keep positive! The ups and downs are frustrating, eh? But determination and loving support go a long way!
