You'd need it to keep up

    RE: CHANGES TO FORMULA 2

As explained in the newsletter we are changing F2 to Formula Greymouth which gives us a bit more flexibility when running this race. The whole idea of the change is to give more track time to F1 and F2 spec bikes as we have received feedback from a lot of riders that Greymouth is just too far to come for 3 races and our spectators are noting an absence of big bikes.
This is purely a trial this year and if we dont get good numbers for this class then we will run a normal F2 this year and look at offering more races to the likes of Post Classics or Motards in the future. so if YOU have a F1 or F2 spec machine then this change has been done to get YOU more track time and hopefully TV time. use it well and have some fun!!!

I realise that we now effectively have a double up or F1 but our last few years entries show that most competitors in F3, post classic and buckets bring 2 machines to get 6 or in some cases 9 races for the day. Most guys with a Superbike or 600cc machine only bring the one bike.

any issues then let me know Steven_hyde74@hotmail.com.

    cheers, steve

The more the merrier my friend. Would be good to see ya!! BEARS fill up pretty quick. you could enter BEARS, F1 and FG on the 749. However you could get the ass from one of the three to make room for other riders, as mentioned in the newsletter there will be a chance to indicate your preferred 2 classes. and if entries are low then hey you can go in all 3. All good!!

im not 100% clear on the formula greymouth class... so the thous and 600s race together? also with the current motard situation can the likes of that superduke race against regular street bikes?

F1 has always been an "open" class here in greymouth as we never get enough 600s or 1000s to run them seperately. The feedback we got from a lot of the big boys was that "Greymouth is too far to go for just 3 short races" Glen Williams showed last year that it is possible to win F1 on our tight circuit on a 600/650. We didnt have enough genuine F2 bikes enter last year so have replaced F2 with Formula Greymouth so we can basically run another 3 races for the superbikes/600s and best of the rest. If we dont see better fields in F1 and FG this year then we will most likely throw extra races to the Supermotards or post classics as they are sometimes over subscribed. Nothing is set in stone untill we see the entrys when they close.

RE: Motards. As part of our MNZ permit requirements we are not permitted to run Supermotard with other classes due to the tight nature of our circuit. So regardless of weather mnz change direction on the current motard situation we still cant run them, this is why we dont have an all in race like nelson has for its king of the port race.

as for SuperDuke etc, We had 2 or 3 enter last year and we allowed them to run with road bikes as the riders tend to ride with a road bike style and they dont take the dirt section jumps too well.

just waiting on MNZ to approve the Entry Form and issue the permit then it will be available. Regulars will get it posted or can request an entry from Debbie at streetracing@greydistrict.co.nz or Download from MNZ website when available. As the newsletter says, if you prefer to be emailed entrys and newsletters then let Debbie know.

    cheers, steve
