New bike = Triumph Tiger

We sure are satisfied with our bargain basement 06 Tiger 955i.

Have never ridden the new Tiger but will if I ever get the chance!

The 1050 engine runs a lot sweeter than the 955 and has more zing.

I guess all the other refinements make it a very nice road bike.

Congratulations on the new bike.

They appear to be. Street & Sport in CHCH appear to be selling stuff all the time. Mind you the new management really got its act together and its now a pleasure to go in there.

Because the weather hasn't been that flash all I did yesterday was ride it home. Well today I've been doing other stuff, although I did go for alittle ride up Loburn and back. Here's some pics I took on way home yesterday.

Nice bike! You might find the wheels a bit hard to keep clean though.

I use CT18 sprayed on first and then brushed on again twenty minutes later with a little cheap ($12.00) mag wheel brush from Repco.

I tried an expensive brush and it was bloody useless, so back to the wee cheap one for best results.

Actually I use the CT18 on the whole bike, gets it all looking good.

You just have to wash the CT18 off with a hose to bring the bike up clean ready for a polish. (If necessary)

I use a Pro-oiler chain lube and find it to be ideal but if you are only sticking to the sealed roads have a look at the one KB's Pixie makes, they look good to me.

Congratulations on a good purchase. I have exactly the same colour Tiger so there should be two of us riding the same bike round town now. I also have the new Sprint and I definitely prefer the Tiger for the longer rides. I went over to the Coast on ANZAC weekend with the TOMCC (Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club) and Phil Garrett from Street N Sport also came over on the burnt orange Tiger demo they have in the store. I guess you will be getting a years membership to the TOMCC with your purchase so I hope to see you along on a few rides. Check out www.tomcc.co.nz website.

Yes I did get a years membership and you will see me out there on some of those rides. I took the demo from S&S (the orange one) for a couple of rides and they are a blast to ride. I'll keep an eye out for ya around town.

Hi Bent51

I bought the factory panniers for the Tiger as it is one of my rentals. For a guy like yourself you will be better off and have more money in the pocket if you buy the Ventura luggage pack racks that fit onto the rear of the Tiger and also go for the 50 litre Ventura bag that clips easily onto the rack. I would also spend an extra $35 bucks for the weather protector that clips over the 50 litre bag. All up it should only cost you $500 bucks were as the panniers will be round the $2500 area and easily get marked & damaged when a rider or pillion swings their legs over the bike clipping them. Also there was a software issue with the gas mileage readout on the display which was fixed with an update which your bike should have had. I would check with S&S that it has the latest firmware updates. I asked S&S to do mine as it only takes 10 minutes or so to download it onto the bike.

We were half expecting a phone call for a ride.

Because you didn't, I had to work in the garage and clean it and build a doorway.

Yea.. Catching up on stuff round home and sneaking out to the bike and fiddling with it. Moved the hot grips dial to the right, much better place.

Triumph are doing a deal at the min and throwing $1900 worth of bits in. The top box is part of that so all I should need is that plus a tank bag.
I'll check out about that gas mileage readout thank you.

The factory handlebar warmers are excellent but cost around $425 bucks. Wouldn't be without mine especially coming home from the Coast a Month ago in heavy rain. Oxford put out good warmers at half the price but not as astechicially nice looking as the Triumph ones.
