    Dompost motorcyling feature?

    Can anyone help me here....?

About 12-18 months ago Dompost introduced a feature on motorcycling (I can't remember what the feature was called).

The chap I have emailed at Dompost says he's worked there for years and there is no dedicated motorcycling feature and doesn't think there ever was.

It definately did exist as we included an event listing last year and I had a copy which was floating around for ages at home, but daft me didn't keep it.

Can anyone remember seeing it in the Dompost occasionally last year?

    Cheers

My memory is that same as that of the guy at the Dominion Post whom you emailed.

Got some questions to try help narrow it down if you can tax the grey matter?

"Ok just thinking about this one- can you remember if there were any ads with this feature or did it look like and editorial type thing.

Was it in the motoring section this would be a broadsheet page? (Big page, full newspaper size - Mav)
Could it have been on a tabloid page say in our sports tab? (Smaller A4 sized pull out guide - Mav)

What was the general outline of the article- new bikes etc? International event, local or nz maybe?
It's a bit like a needle in a haystack but may help the library staff be able to track it down- was it a librarian who you were dealing with?

    Sorry a zillion questions."

Edit: Are you sure it wasnt another paper? Maybe the Wairarapa Times Age?

There was an article on Lynda Blair, famous Wellington Ducatista.

That's the only motorcycling article I can remember in the last couple of years.

Anything else on motorcycling has been in the accident stats after a Holiday weekend or on the Deaths page.

Thanks for your help Mav It's not a huge deal tho, so honestly I don't expect your people to spend ages looking for the needle! But just in case it rings a bell with them...

It's a long time since I saw it (I reckon between Feb-May 07) so my memory is sketchy. I believe it was editorial, definately had a list of coming events. I don't know where in the paper, very likely tabloid size. Don't think it was called "Motorcycling" but had a name representative of that.

Our club was emailed at least a year ago by Dompost saying they had resurrected the feature and clubs could list coming events. Unfortunately I deleted the original emails so didn't have a direct contact when I started to email Dompost in December regarding our 08 events. Sent numerous emails, no reponse, phoning got me nowhere.

It was someone from the sports section who said they didn't remember it.

    Definately wasn't another paper.

Bugger I had one of the pages floating around at home for ages before chucking it out.

Apart from a short feature and stunning photograph of Mrs H astride her Bandit required, as she was, to work on Christmas Day.

(The BDOTGNZA also moonlights as Mrs H's cheer team)

The only thing I can remember is the old Autopost which was in the Evening Post before it merged with the Dominion. It used to feature ride reports by that old guy Paul someone I think. And that was about it.

I used to write the motoring section for Contact when it was still going, under a different name as I was working as a photographer for a competitor, and I regularly wrote motorcycle-related articles.

Definitely would have remembered anything in the DomPost on bikes, that's for sure.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
