    Night Rider

Anyone else here into night riding? Yeah ok, we've all ridden in the dark, but who actually goes out after dark for an adv ride / trail ride etc?

I used to do it heaps as a teenager on mountain bikes. It really adds a whole new dimension to riding with depth & speed perception. Just went for a rark around the streets and trails of Blenheim tonight and had a hoot!

Hmmm, wouldn't mind a blazing headlight though...

    It's good fun.
The tracks are totally different at night.
The headlight flattens the bumps 'n bits out a bit.

I got some great looks running over the round abouts at night when I was last down Blenheim on my bike.
21" fronts are great, round abouts, road cones, speed humps, small kids, it goes over all of them with ease.

I don't mind riding at night, but the light on the Zongshen ain't all that bright, so I try and avoid riding at night if I can.

Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.

lol, funny to see a thread on riding in the dark, few of us just been out on Wednesday night two weeks ago to help me scrub in the new Mitas C-02 rear.
I finished work at 10:30pm. We hit the road at 11pm from my place, went out and done the Western Valley Rd. A dirt/shingle road over the hill from Little River to Port Levy. We included a run around the bays, over Gebbies Pass and over Dyres pass twice to get there and back. Home about 1:45am.
A great ride, loved it all. Tyre went well.

There's talk of doing Lees Valley in the dark soon too .

So yep, while we don't do a lot of it, we do do it and we do like it.

used to love night-flight in my youth but these days my night vision is pretty poor... maybe time to get into HID...

The Arthers Pass and the Lewis Pass at night with a full moon are like traveling on a different planet.
A trip from CHCH to Picton up the east coast as the moon rises over the sea is really awsome.
A high speed blast up the Belmoral Forest straight (between Culverton and Rotherum north Cant) without lights, with a full moon, on a clear summers night as your only light is a rush. Makes the humps seem to dissapear till you launch off the top of them, yeehahh!
Night riding can be more relaxing as far as cages are concerned, they are easier to spot, but more intense when entering a set of twisty's.
Yeap I guess I like it too.

That sounds like a good idea! The river crossings could be fun in the dark
