Hi boys and girls,
The title will make sense in a moment.
I spent a worthwhile hour yesterday browsing the public photo albums. Now, when I'm on KB, I kind of imagine that everyone else is a biker, and my imagination kind of stops there. What I saw yesterday was actually kind of neat, and it gave me a warm feeling. What I noticed was that there were heaps of photo's of people's real lives, their families, and often with titles like "my precious family" or "what I live for".
For me, it shows a wider sense of community and warmth that people outside this community wouldn't understand. They see bikers dressed in leather, or the tats - and they have a mental image that they ascribe to us. Instead, this is a community of shared interest - we love bikes, but our lives are interwoven with our loved ones, and the experiences that fit across a number of walks of life.
It makes me feel like less of a misfit, seeing the photos of road trips (for the hell of it, no other reason), trackdays, wheelstands, and the projects in our sheds. I like seeing that other people love their bikes, and that they're proud of what they ride, and the journey of work to get there.
Out of perhaps 15 pages of photo albums, there was only one that really fitted my preconception - and that was a photo album of naked chicks - hence the title.
So, to all of you who posted photo's, thanks, it was really cool to see your lives.
