In 6 months perhaps, but first duty is to get HRH onto the cruiser she wants and being a stubborn one herself (or i'd have her on a lowered 955 S3 rather than trading it lol) what she wants, she usually gets !

Good on ya for settin ya mind and going for it ! I will have myself a bike to throw around the track by summer, meanwhile i'll just have to put up with nanering the 1050 round for track days only (and hope my insurers still love me by the end of it all)
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Hehe! *makes mental note to meet HRH sometime* Sounds like we would get along! All the best with the cruiser

Nannering bikes round the track is heart wrenching lol, have done it on my 600 for only two laps! Take it easy out there

Not as heart-wrenching as going gung-ho attempting to get around the outside of someone in T7 and seeing your pride and joy bouncing down the tarmac very shortly thereafter.

    Has the frame cracked already?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

It's more of a 'relaxed riding' thing - not having to rev the tits off the bike everywhere to proceed at a brisk pace.

Modern 600s aren't exactly peaceful to ride.
    That's my excuse for wanting a 1000.

Course, I'd still rev it a fair bit.

I've been riding for a fair bit longer and I'm still stuck on a shitty 400...

Hah... take it from someone who's selling one. Its rather frustrating to never really be able to properly stretch the bike. The only time you can sorta safely ring it is in first or second, and using the high revs around corners only results in drifting it as the tyres can't cope.

MM: Just be aware that being too stubborn can also be frustrating for yourself. If you get too gooey eyed at one bike, you miss the negatives, or discount them too much, and find out down the track that hold on, they were actually rather large negatives. To me, swapping to another bike is a pain in the arse, and a drawn out affair, so I try to minimise swapping bikes, by weighing up each one as much possible without getting carried away on the positives. (Often only looking at negatives can help - as you want it for the positives).

Sorta more of a "why would I not want this bike" and perhaps you factor in deal killers... anyway... that thought went on too long... Just get something you likes

I'm half assed selling mine. Just biding my time until someone wants to offer me something interesting like a dune buggy

I'm doing my darnest to get my 400 to drift. I'm getting the hang of it on gravel, but I can't break traction on the tarmac unless it's wet, and the wet is too hairy since you don't get your grip back easily.

Plus I'm getting tired of no power wheelies and only being just quicker than Evo's and WRX's and having them get me off the mark due to the 400's silly high first gear.

I don't like switching bikes all the time since I seem to always get bikes when depreciation hits the hardest.

Sorry to take ya thread slightly off topic Jas, but it is bumping it the whole time

High first gear? Try 150kph plus, and thats mine, the new stuff will do 180-190kph in first, and its like that to try and help you not loop it.

Know exactly how you feel re switching...

    Hmm, hmm, hmm.

    No.

If you want relaxed grunt, get something a bit different.

1000s are just too fast to be fun anywhere but on the track and out in the sticks where the Highway Patrol aren't going to bother you. And then you gotta ride the thing to the track or the sticks, and in the meantime you're stuck with it in traffic and in the rain and on the bloody motorway.

Some may disagree with me, but fuck 'em, they're wrong.

An ER6n, f'rinstance, is bucketloads of fun at 150kph, wide open throttle, huge satisfaction from getting the most out of the bike, etc. An R1 at that speed is just laughing at you because you don't have the balls to do what it's capable of, and you're going faster than the guy having fun on the ER6 but you're not grinning anywhere near as much.

1000s are, ultimately, frustrating. When riding semi-legally on them, you're thinking, fuckit, why am I even bothering with this uncomfortable Lamborghini-eating rocket, and when riding illegally on them, you're thinking, fuckit, I'm about to go to court, or maybe just die messily.

In my extremely humble opinion. Not that I have a goddamn clue what I'm on about.

Hence my GSX1400. I'm gonna keep that thing for a quarter million kilometres before I even start thinking about replacing it.

Edit: Give me a fine summer's day and a guarantee from God that there will be no Highway Patrol between Taupo and Napier, and for about 45 minutes, I'll take back everything I just said...

It's a silly high first gear for the amount of power it has. Must have about 50hp at the wheel and it can do 100k in first. Admittedly it is cool to stick to one gear all the way but the clutch gets raped at speeds below 50k

Though by the sounds of things a 1000 won't be much better. 190k seems a bit extreme.
