    Nordic rider

Plug put me onto a ADV rider thread put up by a guy from near where I am in Sweden at the moment. Check out his thread here. I arranged via PM to meet him in Pajala yesterday for lunch. I initially said we could meet for a beer but he wrote back saying if we have a beer he will have to get somebody to bring him and he cant ride his bike. As the weather was suppose to be good we decided to leave the beer and just have lunch.

Anyway the weather decided not to play the game. It started snowing about 1100 and by the time he left there was about 50mm. It was not quite as slippery as our snow in NZ but still bad enough that his 110km ride home on an almost bald MT21 would be a challenge. Apparently he rides on the gravel just to the side of the seal when there is snow on the road.

He was a real cool guy and was really keen to meet somebody from outside Sweden who is into bikes. He gave me a DVD with his current video which I'll have to pass around. There is some very cool riding up here - wide open land with a huge number of dirt/gravel tracks around the place. He went on a multi day ride to Russia this summer and is currently making another DVD so keep an eye on his thread if you are interested.

Meeting at the Solur (sun dial) in the middle of town (not much good in this weather).

Riding to the place to have lunch - I got to run.

Just before Norrland left - with a bit of sideways action. The Akrapovic cans sounded real nice. The read volvo in the background was my ride home.

He was wearing surprisingly little, just a polypro top, a fleece top and a normal bike jacket with no thermal lining. Minus 3 over here is very different from same temp in NZ - the humidity level is very low so takes a long time to feel the cold i.e. the reverse of Singapore - high humity and high temp = melting.

Your not wrong. He is a really down to earth guy and really nice to talk to. He knew enough english and me a little swedish so we could talk OK.

    Cheers Ryan

Just reread this thread and noticed that I'd written a comment about Niklas video of his trip to Russia. He has just posted a link to a to where you can download a copy of the video. Read about it here.

I've also realized that I never put up a thread with pics etc of our trip around Europe. I might have ago at this over the weekend - it will be on adv rider though cause it is much easier to do.

I wish it was my KTM but its not. It belongs to Norrland (Niklas) from Advrider. He lives in Overkalix in Sweden - have a look at this google map. He lives at A and met me at B

Just got some more pictures from Niklas with him wearing a KB adventure Tshirt in a forest in the north of Sweden. He is about as far from NZ as you can get while still being on land.

    Cheers R

So he's either a member of KiwiBiker and got in on the t-shirt deal or you're down a shirt

He still needs to replace that rear mt-21.

Or is that the remains of the next one...

    I'm down a Tshirt

I suspect that is the same tyre that was on the beast when I met him. He has had scooter (read snowmobile - weird Swedes call them scooters?) season in the mean time. I think he rides a 300ish hp (blown R1 motor) powered scooter. When we hired scooters back in 06 the guide rode one and it is f@$ken nutts i.e. ride it on water nutts!!!
