My flatmate (female) has a Steed and is amping to get a Shadow. Obviously there will be a weight difference etc. Keen to listen to any advice and/or problems any of you may have for her; your experiences on a Shadow etc. Any feedback welcomed![]()

Steed 400 = 203kg
VT 750 Shadow = 225kg
Not much difference and the extra power will more than make up for it.
Seat height
Steed 400 = 670 mm
VT 750 Shadow = 676 mm
It would be best to take one for a ride.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
I went from a 180kg 250 vtwin to a 250kg 750 v4 and other than slight weight and better throttling, hardly any difference.
Steed to shadow even less difference. Been on both.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't realise there was such a slight weight difference, the Shadow seems to look so much heavier. My flatmate is stoked...the Shadow is her dream bike. Hopefully taking one for a test ride VERY SOON!!![]()
shadow is plastic chrome ,so drop it and its bloody dear to replace all the shinny chrome plastic stuff thats why its light too
.xjr...
.."What's with all the lights"..officer..
Shadows are a bloody nice bike for the price.
Your Flatty wont regret buying one.
My friend has done 40k on hers so far and still loves riding it everytime it comes outta the shed.
Never missed a beat either.

I must admit, they do look pretty sweet. I would love one too, but the size intimidates meI ride a 250 though haha

Dunno where the figures above come from (possibly previous models), but the NZ Honda site states 248kg for the Shadow C2, and 257 for the Standard shadow. Includes all standard equipment, required fluids and a full tank of fuel - ready to ride.
I have a '08 Shadow Spirit C2. Weight is fairly down low, engine is reasonably torquey - but not scarily so. It's fairly well balanced for a cruiser. Initially I thought it felt 'big', but after riding it a week it's not really that bad (had it 7 months now, 12,000kms). Seat height is the lowest in it's class at 660mm, so an excellent choice for the non-confident or the short arses like me (~168cm). I honestly don't think it's such a big step from the 400 to the 750 shadow c2.
Feel free to pm me if ya wanna have a closer look
Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam!
Dont be inimidated by the size sikpuppy
These bikes are a breeze to ride.
They handel very nicely at low speeds around town and can easily keep up with the bigger boys on the open road.
Trutleman is right a week after you get it you wont even notice the size.
You'll be too buzy Grinning from ear to ear to worry about it either.
I still got my GXS400E and think it is puny when ever I ride it compared to the Bouledvard but you adapt very quickly.
Like I said eairler you wont regret buying a Honda Shadow they are a very nice, easy to ride, well made and reliable Motorbike.

Your friend will do fine with the Shadow.
Our 750 Aero is one of 3 bikes we have and there are absolutly no bad habits with it. The Shadow is known for it's easy handling/per weight and is an ideal mid-range cruiser.Enough power for most situations but not really a speed machine.Quite comfortable seating, sort of, if doing long trips most cruisers would benefit from a Mustang seat or some other custom product.
Extremely reliable, 23-25 k's per liter, good looking and reasonably priced.
The shaft drive is a bonus for reliability and "no wrenching".
All in all, while not the greatest bike in the world it will continue to be known as a good reliable cruiser that will give you years of trouble free service.
Thanks for all your comments guysTook 2 for a test ride yesterday at Cyclespot. Very nice...I'm so jealous
Going to lok at a mint one today in Hibiscus Coast. Will let you know how it goes!
