went gear browsing with a friend bout a week or 2 back.... got a goo look at what there was, and my sizes. some really neat stuff, snug fitting and all... have planned to shoot out somewhere with kyle to get my gear. can't remember teh store name, but it's this deal where u get full gear for $600 or something. (the quote i got at motomail for the gear i tried out was about $900, excluding boots.. which is a bit much isn't it? - for a first bike... but ya, i get it... how much are you worth... that's been asked before). so ya, am fine with spending on the gear where needed.

i'll go do a bit of testing to get a feel of what i'd like, but the only thign i'm worried about is takng the bike out, and dropping it, or somethig stupid like that.... .... i'm paranoid.. haha.

there's this bike that i'm really interested in. wanna take a look at it soon. lemme know whos keen, and when's an ok time frame. i'll find a way to get in touch with the owner (sadly, am not authenticaed on trademe, so cannot ask questions just yet, wil see if i can grab dad's credit card for it)... here's the link, really keen on this ey... best thing is it's an fxr, so easily within budget!

if your really ride the rings off it they go like the clappers. If you drop it, you just pick it up and ride it home, its ugly so no one will steal it, you will be able to sell it at 80% of what you paid for it when you get your restricted and upgrade to a 'better bike'.
I WISH I LEARNT TO RIDE THAT WAY.

confused when this became a kyle bashing thread..direct your attention to dushi ppl.....jokes dush..u do make a good point andrew about the wheel bearings and such but sadly i did look out for the loose cam noises and such and there was no signs on the fzr..i juz got farked over by karma i suppose...but yea def listen to more experience riders in this thread as they will def have some sweet advice..but ive got so much to learn in terms of spotting a lemon from a steel soo if u or steve rock with jay (zim_invader) to check out the fxr then im a follow to increase my lemon spotting abilities....btw andrew im gonna come look for while your sleeping and cut off your hair..muahahaha..
For those of you whose use the fast lane on motorways and only do a 100km/hr, can you pls use the middle lane, some of us like to ride at 105km/hr thank you very much.

Hey just one thought, all those kiwibiker bikes were posted up last year, so have a read of the last page of the threads and see if they're sold just to check

Good to see there are plenty of bikes out there for ya though! Where abouts in Auck are you?

that FXR looks great, the vtr is a bit old, but will likely be a very reliable bike - but be careful with bikes that have had alot of work; often there is a reason for it other than proper care/maintenance

i was thinking one of the newer VTR myself, i don't know what the old ones are like - but of course the new ones are still around the 4k mark and are all naked

yeah whatever caused that to break probably wasn't something any of us would've picked up on (but the previous owner may well have known about it)

and my apologies, i didn't realise you knew what the cam chain sounded like (and i'm sure this isn't the first time i've made a false assumption about that)

remember that while wheel bearings/chain/sprockets etc are all easy/cheap fixes, they're both hassles you may not want, signs of poor maintenance that me be cause for concern, and all give you reasons to knock the price down
