You are 100% correct. My dad had a goldwing with a side car that he drove until he was 80. Had a gear for reverse, and all the chrome bling you could imagine, as well as automatic tire inflation. It was ideal for those loooong, looong rides.
He'd plop my step-mom in it and they'd take off for weeks at a time. When there was no passenger, we'd put a couple sacks of salt in it to help with the balance.
Ride, eat, sleep, repeat!
