what FZR do you have? You may be able to get Ducati Brembo brakes to fit which will no doubt be better quality, and apparently not very expensive either. PM the stranger. He put some on his FZR750 he had a while back - they weren't the very cheapest option, but they are brembo's all the same.

Certainly on a few other sites i've been on they say that they can't tell the difference between the brembo discs or the EBC discs using a brembo braking setup. EBC are a very reputable manufacturer. Almost bought them myself, but thought the galfers looked nicer, so i got the galfers...
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Brembo, Galfer, AP Tuning, PVM, EBC - does it really matter when ya paying c. $600USD??

Most of them have some claim to fame, and some of them are used in AMA, WSBK, GP etc

    Personal choice

Hey BB FZR, I would go for Galfers for two reasons
    1. I have some on my race bike and they are quite simply awesome. Massive power and heaps of feel.
    2. I can sell them to you! I'm at my day job at the moment but when I get home I'll look up the pricing and let you know.

Righto- the discs you want are exactly the same as is on my race bike- DF660's. The RRP on those is $449 each.
Pads I can do from $39 per side ($78 all up) for the organic compound, and upwards for higher spec compounds. To be honest the price list is confusing as hell so I'll have to ask if you are interested, but your probably looking at around $55 per side for a good high friction HH pad.

How does the disc price sit with the EBC stuff? It seems like a fairly big hit I know, but you would be VERY impressed with these brakes. I used to have an FZR1000W, and I know what happens to the OEM brakes at a track day or a hard run down the hill on the Akaroa GP....

A quick google brings up around 200US per disk for EBC's, there are probably stores out there with similar prices that will ship to over here

I wonder if "Braking" do FZR1000 Rotors....

The EBC is NZ$ 516. each + Pads. I had a look today at the EBC Video (http://www.ebcbrakes.com/xc-launch-video.html) they have some good points eg the drive pin setup like a square rather than a round pin. I can see the concept working well.
The problem with standard rotors when under hard braking the rotor heats up as they do and expands but not being able to move away from the carrier and warping. Hummm interesting

Good luck with your decision BB, looks like you've got some thinking to do! One thing I will say, is that if you haven't had problems with your OEM discs, then you are never going to come close to having an issue with good aftermarket discs. To give you and idea, Galfers of the same spec as the ones I'm offering are widely used in the Oz Superbikes. Galfer make an even higher spec Superbike rotor, but I'm told that no one is using them- the 'ordinary' Galfers are that good and apparently no one can see any point in paying more for the Superbike ones.

As for bringing stuff in from the US- US$200 is a good price! Just don't forget you'll be paying freight, customs clearance and GST on them. Locally sourced product will also come with a warranty, mine inluded.

    Good luck mate!

That is the painful side BB FZR. You'll need an importer number, which you pay an admin fee to get, then you wait for customs to process things, send you a letter to come and pick it up etc... Weigh up the costs, credit car transaction fees, exchange rates, shipping fees and the above etc... it's almost worth getting things locally as Tony stated, you'll getb a local warranty, and should you need it it'll be priceless. But do the sums and unless it's vastly cheaper, buy locally, saves te headaches of customs UGHHHH

Thanks for the info on the Galfers Tony, just fitted some, just need my suspension back to give them a go.

I found these ones http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductDet...ductID=4020918 but they dont ship off shore.... and of course i doubt theres going to be a warranty on off shore bits, the dollars dropped 3 cents so you're looking at 3/4ths the price, plus $38US to have em shipped USPS Flat rate box

I'd like to see reviews of Galfer vs EBC vs Other major brands

Strangely enough i've yet to have to deal with such things, even when buying items of similar value. I've only once had to deal with customs, when i sea freighted a motor from the states, and that was piece of piss.
