    Hi

Thanks for the offer - I'll get in touch closer to the time.

Are you intending to come? - be good to catch up - be nice to have another thrash around the lake

    cheers

There is a bloody good chance you will have 2 x scramblers along for the ride. Sounds great
Now I have to cancel bookings at Baileys Beach for the nth ride I was on the verge of posting, then some bugger gazumped me , so I'll work around Triboys timing for Kawhia & post when that is fixed

    Thumbs up South Island visitor,

This time I thought we'd do it the other way around for a bit of variety. The plan is to meet up at the Rangitaiki Pub on the Napier-Taupo road. There is beer, camping & cabins ($30pp) there for those who want to arrive Friday night.

9am Saturday we'll head North along the Waipunga Rd across to highway 38 at Minginui then on through Waikaremoana, Frasertown, Tiniroto & a few backroads to my friend's farm, Journey's End Station, out the back of Matawai. We'll stay in the shearer's quarters which are quite modern & well appointed. You'll need a sleeping bag. I'll arrange for some beer to be installed in the chiller for us, & if we're lucky Ann might cook us all dinner (we'll take some tucker to cook up otherwise)

On the Sunday we'll head out to Matawai for breakfast then off down the Motu Rd to Opotiki, then a couple more backroads & maybe some hot pools, then back to my place at Rotoiti. There are plenty of spare beds at Rotoiti for any travellers who want to stay the night before heading home.

Further details will be added to this post as we get more organised & a calendar entry will be up in due course.

Remember this is a MIDWINTER ride. It may be cold & wet, in '06 we rode through snow, be prepared!

    Distances:

Taupo - Rangitaiki Pub - 35 km (no fuel)
Rangitaiki Pub - Te Whaiti - 75km (no fuel)
    Te Whaiti - Waikaremoana 70km
    Waikaremoana - Frasertown 50km
    Frasertown - Journey's End 150km
    Journey's End Station - Matawai 30km
    Matawai - Opotiki 75km

    Cheers, Clint
Didn't make last years one, but read the posts with interest.

Would love to have a bash at this one if you've got room for a South Islander. I figure it's only about 950kms Timaru to Taupo, so might wander on up for the weekend ( and NO, I won't be bringing a trailer )

so if there's space, at this stage, put me down as a starter. Obviously I'll have to confirm closer to the time, but fairly confident at this stage.....

I believe I still owe one of you some $$$ or beer$ for some accomodation I said I would take on one of these trips last year......

Anyway, if I can fit enough $$$$ in the saddlebags for fuel, I should be there

    Cheers, Stu
My KLR thinks it's a Hyundai - running happily at the red-line hour after hour.....

Sweet as! Be sure to make plenty of trailer faggot comments around Mark I don't recall you owing me anything, buy me a beer & we'll call it quits

The calendar entry is up now so go & get yourselves registered.

    Cheers

I don't have any connections at Katoom sorry, and I've just put road tyres on the Buell for the winter.

Haven't the KR boys got a 950 SuperEnduro long termer? That'd be an ideal rig for the trip - you haven't lived 'til you've done 150km/h on gravel You might need to strap on a lil bit of extra gas for the first leg though.

    Cheers

    Cool

Hi Clint and others - I've just committed - not sure I'll be attempting Clint's 150kph on gravel and certainly not Big Dave's PB of 200!!

Other Beemer riders out there keen to commit in addition to Offrd and myself?
