Your the man I'll come to you for the customer paint job I'm after..either Castrol racing or Black & pearl/silver/Blue Zebra (safari) stripes..let me know how when & what etc

Well I've just spent 2k on the service to make it work..everything from the HRC mods, exhaust mods with cycleworks & every other bit you can think of as well as the brake lines getting greased out & reconditioned..I have two pages of items & 25 hours of A1 mechanic pain as proof

It used to be easy to get these sort of things done..but more and more I'm finding it rare to have the chance to work "with" the mechanics that fix & service the bike as well as the "managers" feeding you bullshit of this & that..ah the good old days when a man had his word
If I had a GF I'd like only ride 5 times a week!

I shouldn't get your hopes up just yet, at Weltec we're not meant to take away jobs away from the industry. Our jobs are usually our own, Weltec tutors or mates of our tutor. However, a few jobs where the hard repair work has been done and it only requires paint are acceptable. If you're another one of the boi racers just looking for free labour you'll get turned away (happens at least once a week ).

A Castrol racing paintjob would be great fun, a chance to be more creative and one of the schemes I have thought of for my bike.

Gosh, I don't have 2 grand. By the time I start making that money I'd be saving for a ZX10R. I won't be getting rid of my VFR so chances are similar work will get done over a longer period of time.

I solved that by working after school at the local bike store and getting to know the guys there. I was working at sweatshop wages but it was fun.

Well I might just get you about some time to have a look at what kinda repair work you recommend..My hopes have not been up since I realised the mammoth work required to "rebirth" this RVF..

However, as stated earlier .. once you have ya bike onside they last like the best steel horses on earth.. so I'll plan at this stage to get a new engine..wire loom..dyno with the CDi

then the paint job Castrol racing I feel is the way to go..and if you could consult/help the panel repair I might be able to throw $500 at ya for costs and work ( before the paint job)

Don't get your hopes up tho..cos its a long cold winter if i don't get that engine etc

Pay would be nice considering my parents are hounding me to get a job and pay them off for the money I got off them for VFR parts, but I wouldn't be able to accept so much considering I'm by no means a professional.

All good if you don't get it sorted for a while. As I said I've got a few other commitments to get through first. And I'll just double check with my tutor how far we're allowed to go before it becomes a "taking away from the industry" kinda thing.

I can't see mine being a reliant workhorse any time soon. At the moment it just sits around looking pretty, if a bit bruised.

    Got any photos?

Can't really go wrong at that price - it's cheaper'n your average secondhand 250. The only real problem could be getting parts for it, particularly fairing bits if you drop it. The person to ask would be Janal18858 - he's got one of these, and has done quite a bit of work fixing it up. Send him a PM.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Good price eh? Was considering using it as a toy rather than everyday use, but your right about the fairing bits. Could be tricky.

Going up on Friday for a ride.

Yeah, given that there's a 88 CBR250 for sale on here for $3800...
Yup, it'd be a great toy. The "first generation" VFR's are lighter than subsequent ones, and quite attractive.

I'm quite keen on getting an old VF750. Also keen on a CBX750, which wouldn't be helping the cause but still an attractive bike I reckon.

I've got a VFR750 and its a lovely bike - much lighter than my 800. Parts are not that hard to get if you trawl the net. I got a side fairing for not too many $US and there is a guy in the States makes very good C/F copies...but you wait a while for them.

Best thing about the VFR800 is you can do some nice upgrades if you feel like it (CBR929shock - just arrived from USA, R1 Front forks- to come) and they will give the sportsbikes a run for their money if they have a good rider on them

VFRs run forever without a lot of problems the pre VTEC ones IN MY OPINION (so no flames) are better but you need to like the cam gear whine- VTECS went back to chains

Also had a CBX750 Bol D'or (RC17) and they are nice bikes too. A bit better for the commuter IMHO as they are more upright. There is a good Aussie site called Team RC17 that covers the CBX750 and they can answer most questions

Doing the good ole Frankenviffer thing, Alan?
So... we can expect to see it all fettled in ...ooooh... 2020 or thereabouts?

I won't be coming on the ride - have to go to a poxy BBQ for my wife's work. Dunno why - she doesn't even like her workmates and hates where she works. Go figger...

Probably be a VF800R1 and get everyone guessing

Can't all spend time faffing around with our bikes

Yeah know what you mean took me a coons age to get the PC2 installed and I have asked Motohaus the cost to install my Scottoiler..then theres the Gear Indicator, the voltmeter Yada,Yada, yada. In my defenece I did do the brakes last weekend and repolished the front wheel but ran out of time to do the rear one - maybe tonight. Might even put on some unbroken fairings too

The ride is in the morning - get her pi$$ed the night before and you could probably slip in a ride before she wakes up.(Did I reallly write that????- you know what I mean) and be back for the BBQ later.
