Advertising on KB

Not quite sure how and where you would add these - but another method of generating income:

Google ads will be relevent, as they read the text and insert advertisements from applicable advertisers.

Hope this will help to fund the site.

Does raise the question about the potential need to moderate sigs, I could easily put a banner ad in my sig linked to another site and get away without paying for it. Sponsor or not, it's still advertising and as Spank owns the billboard, he should be paid for putting posters on it.

Why not whip out the credit card anyway.

Annual subs won't work to well, you might get 50% of the members that regularly visit paying up but it would probably stop most new members getting involved.

The box that appeared earlier today is nothing compared to what other sites have, google bots in threads making every 5th post an ad, or flash banners all over the show. Seems fine to me, i like some of the ones i see on other forums, i've been led to a few great sites selling gear and bits from ads. The google ones are useless.

Other sites do have a sort of "subscriber" thing going for them, subscribe, you get features like senior members here do, only you can turn the ads off (you get access to a skin for the forum that does not have the ad box on it)
A good example would be tlzone (http://www.tlzone.net/forums/payments.php shows what they do)
I'd keep them on anyway, as long as they arent google ones!

nope, that was testing an auto refresh option for ads. Obviously not gonna use it.

Thank you for your insightful comments, I'm sure they've been so much help to everyone...

This might come as news to you, but some of us have jobs. Personally if I had decided to check the site when I was at work I wouldn't be working now.

Too bad for those people who happened to make that the day they decided to check out if they wanted to let little Johnny have a bike too. Do you think they'd be back?

Spank, advertising is fine, I'm sure no one really has any problem with it, and hell if you really want to use girly sites to make a little more I'm sure most of us don't really care BUT give us a heads up if you intend to, and make sure the censor block does what it's meant too.
