Judging from your initial post I wouldn't go 'eBay it'. You have no idea how difficult it is to replace a motherboard in a notebook. That said I could probably do it.
For e.g. here's an exploded parts diagram of a notebook I was contemplating dismantling because the power connector jack was fucking out:

New motherboard purchased from the States. Should be approx. $200 landed Compared to a second hand one for $350 here. Thanks for the tips and help so far guys!
